What if ASB’s decided the world needs to be more “Hollywood”’? IE, physical life for humans followed the morality and tendencies of Hollywood stories in all their unrealism about human events and interactions. In the ATL, happenings resemble a range of Hollywood style dramas, comedies, action thrillers, mysteries and romances.
One limitation: while human behavior and interactions can be blatantly implausible and completely unrealistic, the ASBs do not like genres like space operas, sword and sandals fantasy epics, monster horror or superheros/superpowers, in other words nothing is blatantly supernatural. James Bond but not the Avengers or X-Men. Scream, but not Dracula or Godzilla, When Harry Met Sally, but not 13 going on 30
How would life change on Earth? What would get better and what would get worse?
Here are a dozen situational rules that would apply in the Hollywood-ization of reality:
1) People regularly get distracted with important news the minute they are served a meal or a beverage, and just walk off without eating (and often not paying) but don't end up undernourished or in trouble with the proprietors. IE, in modern American television while food is shown, eating generally is not.
2) The best predictor of a heterosexual romantic relationship is the man and woman being really annoyed with each other when they meet; additionally, if you are engaged and have a zany misadventure with someone of the opposite sex or a meet cute, or annoying encounter leading to misadventure, it means your relationship with your original fiancé is doomed and was never right.
3) People routinely quit jobs in protest of bad bosses or to choose family or love over money, and have no apparent decline in their standard of living the next week.
4) Well-dressed white guys with British accents disproportionately commit not just white collar crimes but violent crimes as well
5) Black people and gay men's greatest satisfaction comes from sharing enlightenment with an existentially troubled white person or a romantically challenged white woman, respectively
6) The inverse Ninja Law, aka "the law of conservation of ninjustsu: In any martial arts fight, there is only a finite amount of ninjutsu available to each side in a given encounter. As a result, one Ninja is a deadly threat, but an army of them are cannon fodder. --accounts for why the more ninjas they are, the worse they fight
7) Rule of The Back Door: Every impregnable evil fortress must contain a subterranean or other entrance for the hero's entry convenience, which is unguarded, or guarded by only the most inept, sleepy or bribe-able guard on the roster.
8) Profundity in death - Everyone is articulate and calm enough to make an emotionally powerful statement to a friend/ally/loved one as they die. Neither battles, nor fights nor additional deaths interrupt those conversations
9) The Principle of Evil Marksmanship states that, during a fight scene, antagonists in a work of fiction will be as incompetent as the plot demands, despite prior characterization or reputation.
10) "Scenes" are not only accompanied by music as appropriate, but also voice-over narration, which exists in this universe, even though no one hears it
11) Most people committing revenge violence, unlike OTL, are not people who were already violence prone and who also issue alot of unprovoked violence to innocent people; instead, 40% of people who commit revenge violence are good, not normally violent people, who become remarkably effective at inflicting violence on their targets (and not innocent people) after undergoing a "training montage" and whatever else goes along with their quest. Another 40% of people committing revenge violence have some training/experience in it, but are good people only experienced using violence in socially approved channels (military, law enforcement, sport). The remaining 20% are bad guys who are obsessed with some good guys
12) Recreational boats are primarily owned by bad guys, or owned by dispensible good guys who are retiring from law enforcement, going on that "round the world cruise" they've been waiting for, and doomed to blow up with their boat minutes or seconds after stepping on it. This applies though only to people with acquaintances who can figure out what happened and get revenge or justice for them
