Movies AMC Theaters is Quoting Churchill in midst of 91% Drop in Revenue

AMC made only 119 million in Q3 compared with 1.3 billion the same quarter last year, a 90.9% drop in revenue. None of the major film studios who have constantly used and abused the major (and minor) theater chains for years seems to care enough with the exception of Universal Studios. An agreement between AMC Theaters and Universal this Winter will allow AMC Theaters to show Universal movies this winter for three weeks before Universal will release their movies on streaming platforms and for home release as opposed to pushing their release dates back to 2021 like over forty other films have done. Universal will even share revenue with AMC apparently on the home release.

That seems short slight of the big Hollywopd studios. Theaters are big money makers for them and if they go under it will be decade before you see mid-sized chains restarted.

Yes, I know that streming is suppose to be the wave of the future but so far it has not brought in nearly the amount of a world wide release in theaters does.

Overall while you have a bunch of people online in places like here that dislike crowds in general the genral public still like the big screen. While theater have not grown like they did in the 90s they have seen steady profits. Not to mention the newly redone AMCs and Regal theaters are nice and worth the money to see new movies in. The upgraded food options and better seats make a big difference.

So hopefully the big chains can survive this and new movies will come out.

Why are you rooting for communists? Hollywood is evil, and anything bad for Hollywood is good news.

you do realize that communist have created every major technological and global market in the past 80 years while conservatives sat on their thumbs right? Want hollywood to die? build a better holywood.

No? Because it's not true?

Starvation is the natural and correct end for things built on leftism.

Name one influiancial company as of now that isn't as red as a batman having a heartattack.

and their technology goes bye bye with it pal. bye bye computers bye bye modern appliances. bye bye 21st centuries.

On the one hand, sucks for the people losing their jobs.

On the other hand, I hope that the entire Hollywood system burns to the ground. The Hollywood industry and its culture is corrupt down to the core, and their productions are bereft of imagination. IMO American produced television and movies for the past 20-30 have been mediocre outside of a handful of exceptions.

Hollywood has experienced this before. During the 60s, the movies were totally bereft of imagination and the studios resorted to gimmicks in an attempt to get people going to the theaters, but gimmicks can't make up for crappy storytelling. Eventually the 70s rolled around and studios gave complete creative control to auteurs like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, who rejuvenated Hollywood. Then by the 90s and 2000s were back to movies being dictated by formulas and being generally crap. I've been hoping that we might get a return to the 70s but Christopher Nolan is pretty much the only director in Hollywood who is allowed to do whatever he wants with a big budget. So I guess my only hope at this point is that it all burns to the ground and the system is rebuilt from the ground up.

While theater have not grown like they did in the 90s they have seen steady profits.

Theater revenue has been declining for years. Movie pass has been operating at a loss in a futile attempt to try to keep the theater chains alive.

There's also the weird creepy pedophile sex cults, Hollywood Celebrities and other important figures engage in or turn out to be part of

And the fact that you can get in and keep getting pushed because you actually did sexual favors for the right dude or have rich family based connections

So, even if you're not popular, you won't disappear for a bunch of years and will get plenty of roles

"Communists created every technological and global market" to "I bet you cant name a major company that isn't compromised". Goalpost shift with a side of proving the negative, classic.

"If the inventor or proprietor of a technology goes out of business, that technology disappears forever"

Ah yes I too remember when Oog died and spears stopped existing.

Most conservatives I know don't seem to have an intrest and said tech and yet are suprised when it's used against them....my whole family is essentially blackplled....just about everyone I know for that matter is.

You've moved the point into territory so vague it's impossible to even tell what exactly you're talking about anymore. Cheering for Hollywood's downfall is bad or hypocritical somehow because conservatives don't know how to build computers? Do you understand how ridiculous this all sounds?

my whole family is essentially blackplled.
No way.

Frankly I think I can explain myself more clearly One on one.

shocking right?

Yesterday WB announced they were releasing their entire lineup of films simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. The 'fallout' from that mainly in how the Theater chains themselves are responding to the news. And of course how the other major movie studios will be assessing things with Warner Bros announcement.

Midnight's Edge thinks that WB putting their new movies up on HBO Max is a desperation maneuver, trying to amp up HBO Max subscriptions. I don't know their operating costs, but Midnight was placing HBO Max in the same ballpark as CBS All Access, which IIRC they said wasn't making much money (possibly operating at a loss? I can't say). It could be that HBO Max and CBS All Access might fall by the wayside in a few years like the MCM streaming service did, and everyone piles on to Netflix/Amazon/Disney. The government should probably launch an anti-trust investigation and break up this oligarchy. But lobbyists and bribes will probably keep that from happening (otherwise big tech wouldn't have become so ludicrously overpowered within the last two decades).
