All I'm stating is that Unionization with, likely, massively increase their expenditures and lessen profit...possibly into the negative just like the Big 3.

What killed the Big 3 is that there cars suck compared to Japanese alternatives. You are literally burning money if you choose to buy pretty much anything other than a Toyota, Honda, or Subaru.

Trucks are pretty much the only exception in which you should choose a different brand.

This comes from the US playing protectionist and deciding to for quite a while basically use tariffs as a way to keep foreign automakers out; this resulted in a weak American industry that, when the tariffs were removed, quickly lost market share to superior foreign competitors.

Unionization in the US is usually not even the fault of Unions, but of the way the US government regulates Unions, which has made them awful compared to European unions, which are both cheaper and more effective.

And Toyota really put a shot across their bows with their new Tundra. Redesign is directly targeting the US truck market, and they're doing it pretty well.

Your Amazon Smart Home Surveillance Device that you treat as a pet has just improved in how it can serve Humans.

Brands registered with Amazon Brand Registry will see the new Customers Ask Alexa feature in Seller Central, where they can easily discover and answer frequently asked customer questions using self-service tool. Customers Ask Alexa will be available to shoppers via the Amazon search bar in late 2022 and via Echo devices in mid-2023.
Amazon recognizes brands as experts on their products. With this new capability, we have made it easier for brands to connect with customers to help answer common questions and better inform their purchase decisions.

Oh my gosh! Now it'll be easier then ever to connect brands with potential customers! Thank you Alexa!

It's in its testing phase now but a broader rollout will occur in 2023.

That's a *very* steep challenge, though. The U.S. truck market is utterly dominated by Ford and Chevy's designs, partly because they're *very good* and party because market segment features a downright absurd level of brand loyalty -- in many cases it's even *inherited, multi-generational* brand loyalty. It literally does not matter how good anyone else's pickup trucks are when so many rural Americans will *automatically* head straight for the local Ford or Chevy dealer because dad, granddad, great-granddad, etc always bought these.

Amazon says the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is bullying their senior leadership.

Harassment or no, Bezos and Jassy must go (and testify) according to the FTC who dismissed Amazon's request that they do not testify in a case regarding the difficulty of cancelling Amazon prime memberships. Jeff Bezos of course being the founder and former CEO of Amazon and Andy Jassy the current Amazon CEO.

Amazon has spent over $16 billion on new content for its media streaming services which is over the $13 billion it spent in 2021.

This includes securing a deal for NFL's Thursday Night Football (a mere billion) and the estimated production budget of Amazon's Rings of Power television series which is supposedly $450 million. They've also spent lots of money expanding the amount of musical tracks available on Amazon Music as well as securing access to showing thousands of podcast episodes.

Amazon wants people cancelling their Amazon Prime account to be unthinkable.

I don't really get some of their decisions though.

Like Tomb Raider. Recently they announced they want to make Tomb Raider a cinematic universe. Spent $600 million acquiring the rights.

For starters, what the fuck? Tomb Raider's last 3 games barely broke even, not exactly suggesting its a prime target for sequels or a cinematic universe. On top of that, they are some of the most cinematic games there are - especially 2013 and Shadow.

The Angelina Jolie movies made sense because those earlier Tomb Raider games were mostly action platformers without much story. Modern Tomb Raider games are fairly story heavy, with huge set piece cinematic action moments that a movie is just not going to have the budget to match.

Overall, I think Amazon's Tomb Raider will flop harder than Rings of Power.

That really depends.

If they respect their audience, and the fans, if they have good writing and if they don't go fucking woke and act like pricks it could be a success its all about the exicution.

Ah yes, Amazon Studios are known just for that.

I mean, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has stated herself to be a Tomb Raider fan. But she's a dram writer, not an action writer.

Insanely enough, the Tomb Raider show is backed by dj2 entertainment, the people behind the Sonic movies. Apparently they've bought a fuck ton of video game licenses, as they are also working on adaptations of Disco Elysium, Ruiner, Sleeping Dogs, My Friend Pedro, Little Nightmares, Life is Strange, and It Takes Two.

Most of these I don't see the benefit of making a TV show. How the fuck do you encapsulate Disco Elysium into a TV show? The protagonists internal perspective is so important to the enjoyment of the story.

Life is Strange and It Takes Two are kinda similarly 'cinematic' in my mind, I can't imagine a show doing them justice.

Considering the billions of dollars spent they sure missed my interest or actively made me not want to watch. Rings of Power is such an anti-draw I avoided their service for months whenever we were wonder "what should we watch?"
