I keep forgetting this is a thing but apparently they opened a new studio in Montreal... and already have studios in Seattle, Orange County, and San Diego.

The Montreal studio expands Amazon’s commitment to developing games that offer bold new play experiences, and foster community inside and outside of the games themselves. Upcoming internally developed titles from Amazon Games include open world MMO New World, releasing in August 2021, and several unannounced projects currently in development. Amazon Games is also a publisher of externally developed games, including an upcoming title developed by Smilegate RPG.

Open World MMO... I feel like this is Deja Vu??? 🤔

So far they've just had a lot of big failures.

New World looks genuinely interesting though. Too bad my university's wifi blocks multiplayer games.

The catch being its very PVP focused.

Amazon's New World is proving a success and they won't let anything get in its way, including pesky YouTubers offering earnest feedback regarding bugs.

YouTuber Video Game Databank discovered a serious bug in version 1.2 regarding aptitude levels in a single crafting attempt which purportedly resulted in his loss of 40,000 coins. Dutifully, he reported the bug to Amazon customer support. When they didn’t understand his complaint, he shared a video showing the bug in action.

He goes on to call this a “fatal mistake” as just two hours later the video is removed from Youtube after a manual copyright claim was invoked by Amazon. While it could be a coincidence, it certainly seems like a hostile action on behalf of the games studio as it was not an automated, AI triggered task. Someone at the studio manually filed the claim.
