What's old is new again. Imagine replacing the most authoritarian President since Ferdinand Marcos in Rodrigo Duterte with the son of the aforementioned Dictator whose name is... *snicker* Bongbong Marcos. Ol Bongbong is a member of the same Party, the PFP, as Duterte is. In fact his running mate is Sara Duterte, the daughter of the current President Rodrigo.

Due to a 2011 Judgement pertaining to his families ill gotten wealth, Bongbong technically cannot enter the United States which is kinda amusing as well.

I wonder what's the probability of us in the Philippines going "not my President!" if Bongbong Marcos wins the Presidency. Pretty low, since widows are the Marcos family's greatest bane. Just look at Cory Aquino and Leni Robredo. They lost their husbands, and they used that to their advantage against the Marcos family.

Oh, and Filipinos have a weird habit of coming up with cringeworthy nicknames for their kids.

Jesse Robredo wasn't assassinated though. He died in a plane crash.

On the Presidential election: it's looking more likely Marcos Jr., will win the Presidency & time is running out on VP Robredo to pull off a miracle.

Yeah, but Jesse's death was used by Leni supporters and anti-BBM people alike to propel Leni into the Vice Presidency. Although after 30 plus years of Liberal and bits of Nationalist rule in the Philippines, followed by 6 years of Duterte, I'm a bit more weary of another Marcos presidency. My parents and grandparents lived through that time period though.

Big question is whether Senator Risa Hontiveros will get reelected on May 9th 🤔 ?

The only thing I'm hoping for is a Presidential candidate that would be consistent with foreign and domestic policy that actually makes sense and is practical. Duterte, for all his efforts at developing an 'independent' foreign policy, has made the Philippines a bit too close to Russia and China, although his hissy fit at not being granted American weapons and something related to Bato de la Rosa being denied a US visa is what started this crap in the first place.

However, what Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte's party stance did stand for that intrigued me was the attempt at introducing federalism into the Philippines. Not sure as to how would that play out.

That federalism shtick will NOT be successful. Duterte couldn't get it done.

On the down-ballot offices: I'm interested to see if Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros wins reelection on May 9th 🤔
