What If? “Mechanical Teachers” existed & were cheap & mass produced?

Let’s say sometime around the 2000s-2010s

A smaller & portable version of the machine in this Isaac Asimov short story, without even the need of paper, was so cheap even poor third worlders could buy it or build it from scrap

And the designs were available online because the creator wanted not just money, but to revolutionize/screw-over the world/status quo

The technology is smart enough to interact with the “student” and “ask” and “answer” questions but only with the knowledge it’a already processed

It can give out tests and assess students’ current skill/knowledge level

It relies on either the internet or many downloaded files for its information

It can even “test” you on how much of an expert/fan you are at One Piece

Will this technology be illegalized or “regulated” so that the Department of Education-around the world interferes and “tests” the child itself or chooses what can ONLY be taught by the machine and bans stuff it considers “incorrect”?

Before you say Trade School, yes I am aware you will need actual hands on experience to be a surgeon, but it can still teach what organs are which and how each function

The internet is this in alot of ways ajd we use it to screw around. So id imagine a slight uptick in real knowledge. With a huge increase in "pop culture" and trivia knowledge.

Sure can to an extent I'm not saying this wouldn't be nice. I'm just saying it'll mostly be used for bull**** not actual learning.

Can’t even trust parents to choose the subjects and information

Can it ascertain why the student does not understand? Can it identify where the student’s mistake is in their flow? Or is it merely able to determine if you filled in the right multiple choice answer or put the right number in the box?

We are in the middle of a giant test of distance learning and non-classroom instruction.

I suspect we will find it works well for some, and miserably for others.

Yes and it can be sort of adjusted to deal with "special" students

Let's just say the AI is advanced enough to properly assess and question information and look for answers

But NOT advanced enough to go SkyNet or decide that its within its own interests to try "teaching" the child to be some sort of "agent"
