Our "what the heck, why not" office pools typically have a $20 grand prize and our secretary almost always wins despite knowing almost nothing about sports. She correctly predicted both George Mason and Virigina Commonwealth reaching the final four. She also predicted two years of Butler...

Don't play for money. Play for fun and don't worry about the standings.

"It's a beautiful night, we're looking for something dumb to do Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you" - Bruno Mars It's the Browns. Good decisions and Cleveland are often incompatable.

More accurately: the Browns management doesn't want him and the associated PR headaches on their roster.

The NFL appealed because they thought a six game suspension was too light.

Appeals usually confirm, reduce, or negate your sentence. That his was increased says something.

His suspension was increased from 6 games to 11 games via. an appeal. 11 games and the huge fine is probably lighter than what some think he should have been handed: a permaban.

I am not particularly a fan of american football because a game has a one hour clock and takes over three hours to complete ... but there's only about 11 minutes of action.

This is a football thread. How is golf relevant? I regularly get dinged for going off-topic but I'd have to try very hard for one of my derails to include golf in a thread about a sport where body armour is both required and inadaquate.

When someone says "I'm done with this bullshit" and walks away, please respect that. They don't owe you anything and insisting that they do is a major insult.

At 5'11", 190lbs I'm larger than most of everyone. My 43 about to turn 44 crippled ass really doesn't want to attempt breaching an NFL offensive line while unarmed and outnumbered 5:4 or 5:3. I can see why he called it quits plain as day.

Linemen are very large men who can probably say "I'm bigger than you" to things like lionesses, small tigers, and some bears. They don't last long. EDIT: Linemen are also amongst the smartest people on a football field.

An NFL career is, on average, a little over 3yrs and 3mo. You have to be a very large and athletic guy just to be considered for an NFL backup spot. You are also disposable because there are several someone elses who want your job and can do it just as competently as you can waiting in the wings.

Permaban is my guess. The NFL has nothing to lose and evrrything to gain by saying "nope, you can't come back."

I read the accident was reported at ~6:30AM. Sunrise there is ~7:00AM. Depending on what he was wearing the truck driver might not have seen him.

Yeah. He was on an interstate too. Trucks like that don't stop or swerve quickly. Especially when loaded.

Don't really follow the NFL. Looking him up, he's 69. He's at the age where handing over the reigns and retiring to an advisory/mentor role is a normal thing to do.

If he was (don't really follow the NFL) this would have been the "he's got to go" last straw.
