Basically, the gist is, If China invades Taiwan, they wont stop, they wont stay there. It will show the rest of the world they aren't afraid anymore, and that if they invade Taiwan., who knows who is next. Vietnam? Mongolia? South korea with help of North korea?

And you are wrong. The military will act because, not doing so basically makes us a lone country that has most likely lost trade with every major ally of ours. From UK all the way to Japan and S Korea

And we are still obligated to defend them, as we still see them as a country. because we treat them as such. We also gave them weapons to fight China with. Japan will also definitely defend Taiwan, because letting China do something like that would make it harder for them, and same with South korea
