French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

Sure, nutrition can play a role. My guess is that about half of the China-India average IQ difference is environmental rather than genetic, for instance.

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

That makes sense, but wouldn't it make even more sense to try permanently taking Russia down a notch by stripping it of as much of its valuable territory as possible so that there won't be any future war? The Daugava-Dnieper Line seems like a great defensive line in this regard. Gotcha. The...

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

I'm just saying that simply taking Poland, Lithuania, and Courland won't be enough to destroy Russia's power long-term. Though if Germany just wants a buffer to protect itself from Russia, then it would be a different story. As for Romania, I would presume that it would jump into the war at the...

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

Interestingly enough, I really do wonder if it would have been prudent for Britain to make a deal with Germany where the Brits stay out of WWI in exchange for Germany not annexing any French or Belgian territory: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_Crisis#cite_note-223 Germany was apparently...

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

Well, TBH, I was just wondering if the Germans would get victory fever if they are able to win a bunch of quick victories against Russia and thus think that they can get even more. Real life isn't applicable here because in real life Germans wanted to quickly close the Eastern Front in order to...

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

Is this the kind of attitude along the lines of "We're friendly towards refugees, but we don't want them near us!"? Do we get a Brest-Litovsk-style peace in the East in this TL, or something more moderate? Perhaps a western Russian border along the Daugava-Dnieper Line (or along OTL's future...

Those losses are almost comparable to Soviet male losses in WWII. IIRC, around 40% of the 1923-born Soviet males who were still alive in 1941 were already dead by 1945. :(

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

I just want to clarify--are you saying that almost 30% of the total French men who were drafted in 1912, 1913, and 1914 got killed in World War I in real life?

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

Not quite: France suffered 1.7 million dead (or missing, I suppose) in WWI in real life along with 4.3 million wounded (but surviving): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I_casualties Here, there will be 1.7 million French troops dead, captured, or missing, but 1.7 million is still much...

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

You're assuming that none of the French forces are actually going to be capable of breaking out of this extremely massive encirclement, which isn't guaranteed. The Nazis could trap a good part of the French forces but some could potentially manage to break out of this encirclement.

But the younger French male cohorts won't be drafted yet, no? So, France could create new armies from its male cohorts who will turn 18 in 1915 and beyond.

Briey and Longwy and its huge iron ore deposits could be an attractive German annexation in the West. As for the East, it depends on just how much security the Germans are going to want there. The Daugava-Dnieper Line is a good defensive line, for instance. And Yes, the East will have German...

French unity, persistence, and strategy in a Germany goes east WWI- Union Sacree?

When the CP has achieved such a crushing victory, why not aim to expand even further in the East in 1915? Advance up to the Daugava-Dnieper Line, for instance? This would give the CPs control of all of Poland, Lithuania, Courland, Belarus, and the western half of Ukraine and would also allow the...

A French Gallipoli, perhaps? And/or a French amphibious landing in Syria and/or Lebanon and then aiming to expand from there? The latter option here could be viewed as a revival of the Frankish Crusader spirit after a break of several centuries! ;) That would depend on what exactly Russia's...
