I can't exactly say I'm shocked by this level of maturity in response to an attempt to hold you to your own standards; what else would I expect out of a leftist. I think this pretty adequately demonstrates the absolute hypocrisy of the leftist narrative of 'we can't tolerate intolerance.'

How dare you say such discriminatory things. I demand an apology for both what you have said, and how you have said it. This kind of prejudicial attitude is not permissible.

I'm curious, do you not understand what 'The Word of God' means to a Christian?

You know, it's really disturbing how 'You can oppose trangenderism without being cruel to people caught in its cultish mindset' is being taken to mean 'submit to them.' You can be fully prepared to do violence to someone if they cross the line, but still have an attitude of 'I'd really rather...

LGBT and the US Conservative Movement

I'm sorry, but I can't really see how this at all correlates to reality. Conservatism in America is and always has been at its heart a Christian movement, based on Christian morality and ideology. In the last years, as the left's mask has slipped more and more, a decent percentage of...

...I couldn't say about the 1860's-1890's, but I can definitely say that in the 40's-60's that Hollywood was already a festering pit of leftism and communism. And if you want to point out any kind of pop culture insitution that conservatism had a hold of from 1975-now, aside from Talk Radio...

...What? When, exactly, did the conservative movement hold control over pop culture or our institutions?

Humane institutionalization would be better than what'shappening now, but that's not going to happen any time in the near future. It's better to try to work from where we are, and do what we effectively can, than to focus on fantasies. Maybe in twenty years the cultural tide will be turned...

You're committing the same fallacy here that leftists do; conflating some members with the whole of a group. Each individual 'trans' person should be handled as they individually deserve. The psychotic child-molesters should be treated like psychotic child molesters, and the mentally-unbalanced...

If this is the case, what's with all the lawsuits from young adults who have 'de-transitioned'?

Then why did John Hopkins, the first hospital to start performing gender-reassignment surgery, stop doing so under the conclusion decades later that it wasn't actually constructive?

HIV is a sexually-transmitted disease. It was known to be a sexually transmitted disease in the 80's, but the LGBT activists and leftist 'allies' insisted that government money be spent by the Reagan to find a cure for the disease. And then they relentlessly attacked him as being...

The delusion isn't that a person is attracted, the delusion is that it's healthy and moral.

LGBT and the US Conservative Movement

The problem with this outlook, is that it ignores how delusions aren't generally stagnant. They become self-reinforcing and self-propagating. As reality clashes more and more with someone's delusions, they have to create more and more justifications, and reject more and more of what's true...

If this is your only point, I would agree. America has more religious freedom than most parts of the world. That doesn't mean that there isn't some religious persecution by the government though, which is what I was saying. The two points do not contradict each other though.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong here. This absolutely happens in the USA, but pretty nearly exclusively against Christians. I suppose you never heard of the children who were banned from praying in school, or got in trouble for having a Bible with them? Or the oft-repeated refrain that religion...

I agree. Something that I think has hurt this forum in the past is when discussions that start tracing the root of a thread's original surface-level topic, get shuffled over to the philosophy subforum, generally to wither away and die.

I tend to agree. I think a far more useful thread would be 'How do you discern the fundamental truths of reality?' Because we're arguing at the level of the second floor of the structure, when the conflict is at the level of the foundation.

LGBT and the US Conservative Movement

I believe in God because it is irrational to do otherwise. I can and have presented reasoned arguments for essentially every position I've ever held, but as FriedCFour encountered repeatedly over the course of this thread, people will attack you for being religious regardless. I've addressed...

This basically sums up to 'If you believe in God, you're not allowed to be part of the political process.' Do you not see a problem with this?
