Fun fact (if memory serves) the Russian Navy spent the 18th century getting beaten up by the Swedes. This is after the Great Northern War as well, by the way, where Sweden gave Russia a nasty kick in the pants in the 1780s.

America withdrawing into isolation might actually be a good thing for Europe, militarily speaking. The culture of parasitism would be gone and we’d have to rearm very quickly, whilst relearning how to have a more robust foreign policy. Europe also has centuries of military tradition to draw on...
