A Catachan Battalion vs Na'vi at Avatar 1

Uhhhh ok... Pretty sure Quaritch literally states how lethal the neurotoxins are to Humans in the beginning of the first movie. But if you want to apply real world science and reason to Warhammer 40K...

Flak Armor can protect from shrapnel and autogun bullets or pistols, lasguns will still cook the wearer. It has a bonus against blast damage (equivalent to Carapace Armor) but I haven't seen any consistent performance of it being able to protect even negligibly against the meter long neurotoxin...

A Catachan Battalion vs Na'vi at Avatar 1

Raiding a village in such a manner would likely trigger the local Navi as a whole I feel. The only large scale violence we know of that occurred in the first Avatar was RDA forces apparently massacring a bunch of Navi which shut the school down and caused there to be a freezing in the...

Oh I didn't even assume Jake Sully (or any Human collaborators) were part of the whole thing. I just figured the Catachans made a very poor first impression so the Navi decided to resist them fully. And the Catachans only sent a battalion because they put this guy in Command of the Operation.

I think the Navi in general have far more combatants per ratio of population than any related Hunter-Gatherers in Human history. I'm not going to discuss possible demographics because I have no idea where to start when it seems like Pandora has a perfect networked equilibrium going on. But I...

We have numbers from the actual movie. Quaritch's briefing before the final battle stated quite clearly that Jake Sully had rallied two thousand warriors (and that's what they could estimate from the satellites) and that in a weeks time it would be ten times that number which is twenty thousand...

A Catachan Battalion vs Na'vi at Avatar 1

Do you think the Catachans need air support to win in this scenario? They can swing from the trees like Rambo.

I don't see any reason to if the conclusion would then be foreordained. Might as well delete the thread then. I think the discussion in this thread is going great specifically because there is a great deal of disagreement over who might prevail in this scenario.

If anti-air fire with infantry weapons was like skeet shooting then the use of drones in modern combat should be negligible. Bruh... those DJI drones dropping grenades on you... pfffbbbbtttt its like plinking a clay pigeon. Helicopters flying overhead? Just plug the door gunner like he's a...

A Catachan Battalion vs Na'vi at Avatar 1

Automatic weapons can do burst fire or "sprays and prays." An individual infantry weapon is generally a terrible platform for AA fire and I have no idea where you get a 50% accuracy from the Catachans? How is that even quantified? Are we to accept that a Catachan can just fire his gun twice in...

If Lasfire is so superior to using projectiles as anti-aircraft fire then why would Hydras exist? Wouldn't you just use multilasers instead of autocannons? The Navi weren't exactly bullet timing around gunfire so "dodging" is negligible in either case. I think some dude with a lasgun and some...

And it's important to note that even if the Catachan can't win, that doesn't mean the Catachans quality is invalid or that of Warhammer 40K. For all of the plotholes and weak writing that James Cameron is accused of, he had to make a scenario which made it seem plausible for the final Battle to...

A Catachan Battalion vs Na'vi at Avatar 1

I'm just curious as to what potential strategy, tactics and training that the Catachans will apply here that will earn them a solid W. We can all agree that the Catachans have more capability then the RDA when it comes to their ground forces, but they still have to find a way to apply that...

A Catachan Battalion vs Na'vi at Avatar 1

The other tricky thing is that the final Battle of the first Avatar movie, IIRC, didn't take place on the surface so to speak, but in the Hallelujah Mountains and thus the actual battlefield was a giant floating rock with its own giant biome. I could be mistaken but all of the forces the RDA...

Battalion would be likely outnumbered. Navi were able to muster two thousand warriors (that the RDA could see) according to Quaritchs Briefing in the movie. He also said it could be twenty thousand Navi in a weeks time in which case they would be able to overrun the perimeter of their base.
