What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

Possibly. Or they didn't think it through, as per the thread title, and did it because having assassins paid in dubloons sounded cool.

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

It could be a fiat criminal currency, and that there is value added to the coins by it being vouched for by the crime lords or something...

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

Or they put it in because it looked cool and they weren't considering the actual logistics of how it would work.

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

I think the companions are probably smarter and they are half drinking buddies and half hired toughs. I am pretty sure that is the FG over the course of most of the games. Doing mostly small scale work as part of an officially chartered guild. The gold, perhaps? And the promise of power...

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

Now I am reminded of Morrowind Guilds and how stupid this is compared to them as well. Since they are actual functional guilds (thieves guild is canonically calling itself a guild, since it is kinda sorta semi-official and wants to portray itself that way) for whom adventurers are actually a...

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

Which makes absolutely no sense, if anything they should actually be adapting due to their ability to breed rapidly and how they constantly get slaughtered. It should be some Darwinian nightmare. If this was Bethseda Fallout then it would make plenty of sense. Otherwise it is an utterly stupid...

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

I would wager that Smallfolk don't just breed like normal people, by having families. They also just spontaneously undergo binary fission when the population gets too low. Sort of like those mobs from Commander and Conquer Generals, except the lords are not as charitable as the GLA and don't get...
  8. Hlaalu Agent

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

It is almost as if the fucking little blighters have insane amounts of plot armour. And also half swording is a fucking thing.
  9. Hlaalu Agent

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

That actually is funny as hell, especially the manlet bit. Now I am just imaging them utterly breaking a setting, because of them actually being unnaturally strong for it. I guess even with bounded accuracy 5e adventuring parties would go, "HAHAHAHAHA, XP pinatas, go pop!" Now a Paragon...

What screams "the author didn't think of the implications"?

Would a legit level one all commoner party do any worse than a level one anime party? Because it sounds like they have the edge here.... Wait would an actual level 20 commoner break those settings? Because I'd love if it they could.
