I'm the opposite of you. I really like beer for its taste, it usually doesn't matter whether cheap or more refined. Lager is good, wheat less so but depends on brand, stouts I generally avoid. Stuff like abbey beers and ales can be really awesome. These days I very rarely drink hard drinks...

I like to keep things simple. Beer and a good steak. For everyday (since steaks are expensive), something like shwarma or chicken will do.
