Is there a website/forum dediciated the the French/Napoleonic Era in Italy? A query on another site, where a member is looking for the document (original decree) naming Murat King of Napoli and making him "grand vassal", spiked my interest.

The video dragged up the term "scala mobile" from the depths of memory :) The footage from the 1930 at around 2:20 was bizzare, though ... Also, for some reason "Italy + finances" brings this song (Italian band) to my mind:

Akshually ... the PLC dates to 1569, the Act of Union. Before that Poland and Lithuania were in personal, and not real union. To continue the culinary line of discussion - up to this day the assorted vegetable used for soup stock - celery, leek, carrot, etc. are called "włoszczyzna" i.e...

And Polish is soooo similar to Turkish because the coat of a black horse is "kary" (Kara-Kum, if you want to know, is Black Desert in Turkic), or Mongolian, because hero is "bohater" (Ulan Baator, capital of Mongolia, means Red Hero). Also, a link with Italian is suspected as pomidor means...

I suppose we all know this: I just discovered that the above is a cover of this: As stated in the comments - only an Italian can play the piano and talk with hand at the same time :D

Bona Sforza got (dower?) lands in south Italy - Bari and something else - as compensation for Milan which the Habsburgs stole from her and her son.

I am fascinated by the pronounciation of "Brayschchya". I always thought it was Breschya. BTW - easy to write in Polish - it'd be "Brejścia".

I stopped watching when the author revealed he is using that mentiferous rag - The Guardian - as a source of information. Italian economy 1/4th larger than reported due to black/grey economy? WOW! That's news! What a briliant discovery by the author. I've seen that in the media since 1980 ... A...

I thought that it were the "partizani" who did that to women? Shaving heads, smearing in dung, forcing into walks of shame ... BTW, the below song always makes me think of some dude slinking away in the morning, lying about having important things to do, like Fighting the Enemy and being...

Sorry for the Lombarda. Should be Lombardia? Cannot help you with those blond Italians - that is simply what I remember remember hearing? reading? decades ago. Yes, richness is relative. I've heard it said that in post-WWII Portugal the richest of the poor emigrated by ship to USA or Brazil...

Interesting video. I spied at some point a red T-shirt with the Albanian eagle :) Sicily, Apulia, Calabria - fits with what I read that it were the poorest of the poor who went to USA. The cheapest tickets were for there. The richer people from Veneto or Lombarda went to Argentina or Brazil...

For me Italian songs have been ruined by the Girls und Panzer anime, now there is only one Italian song to rule them all and in darkness bind them: I love the scene at 0:50 - Italian Japanese 40kg girl LARPing as Italian girl stronk! <3

I often give a similar explanation about English words - "it is pronounced so and so, but there are dialects where it will be pronounced differently, so don't sweat over getting it perfect" :)

I see a few things wrong with that image - and suspect more. Where in April-May 1943 and in such terrain were any US "Coloured" troops engaged against Germany? And first of all - howitzer, not mortar shells.
