Conservatives Take Power

This is definitely a swing to the right for Italy.

Do you think it can endure in the face of bureaucratic pressure from inside Italy as well as from its neighbors and the EU?

Will the new Prime Minister get stabbed by their own Leftists like happened to Trump?

Or is this swing going to the beginning of the sea change for Europe?
It hasn't been saved, previous governments pretty much handed over the control over finances to EU, something new government can't change without totally crashing Italian economy and there is deeply entrenched bureaucracy that is perfectly fine with being subordinated to Brussels. So at most there will be some public opposition to EU bullshit, but quietly acquiescenting, so it will be a game of keeping up appearances. Though that might not be enough for EU and they might seek to make example of Italian government.
I'm kind of hoping Italy leaves the EU.
Italy's exit will kill the EU, but Meloni is not like that because it will kick Italy itself more. In fact, it's better to listen to her program, and she wants to break with the instability of Italy and the rule of technocrats out of a hat instead to bet on the French model in government, i.e., the strong power of the president. This way it will be easier to rebuild Italy, but for now she must not be fooled by much older partners than her who had their chances and are now junior partners of Meloni.
I'm for that, leave the EU build their own military get a bit of a Roman Revival going. The more we can unwrap these tangled political alliances the better. the extent we should have with other countries is friendly relations (diplomacy and immigration) and trade agreements (The Import/export kind NOT the socio-political kind) THAT'S IT.
How long will Meloni last as Prime Minister of Italy?
it hasn't been saved.

In fact the election really worries me, its not the Italian right that worries me, its the reaction to the election elsewhere.

The fact is you have people here in the united states that care about this election, you have people in europe who care, you have brussels already saying their planning on punishing Italians for voting the same way, liberals in canada, australia, new zealand and america cheering it on. People on the right supporting it and all of that is fucking terrifying because it means one thing.

The politics of the west are starting to merge.

The west is starting to collapse into empire and that is bad because that entire process is by nature an incredibly ugly one. Ideally no body should give a shit the fact that they do is a really bad sign.
Von Der Leyen said they have tools to reign them in to cuck.
Yet there's biracial folks in Europe
why do you say that? History hasn't been kind to the crippled when it comes to revolutions or global crises, and I thought anti-Semitism is generally frowned upon. am I mistaken?
Italy hasn't been saved. We saw how all the supranational powers-that-be exerted pressure on them when Salvini was actually largely running things and, you know, upholding the law. That's nothing compared to the pressure cooker they'll get going for Meloni. There's not a trick in the book dirty enough that they won't use against her. Just watch. Twelve months and her coalition will come apart at the seams because Brussels and others will wave so much carrot and stick in front of the principal players that greed and animosity will win.
She'll end up exactly like Trump in that she will achieve nothing of substance and end up betraying her voters on virtually every front.
We can hope.
I think it'll take 2 years, but other than that this is spot on.
And Trump is relevant for Italian election results how?

So, this was the only thread about one of my countries so heck why the hell not putting one here. Primarily politcs but I will put other stuff as well. To start :

https://www.echoroukonline.com/italian-pm-giorgia-meloni-to-begin-a-two-day-visit-to-algeria I think she is seriously the first female European (if not the world, but I might be wrong!) head of state to visit Algeria.

Meloni Is About to Back Insider Barbieri for Italy Treasury Role I don't have much info on the potential nominee.

She is not a head of state, but a head of government.

@TheRejectionist - as to your last link, about real estate boom, just today a friend of mine mentioned that a 50m2 flat in Warsaw costs same as 100m2 in Italy ...

@Buba I think Milan is MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE than Warsaw. With the money I have in Italy I am poor but with the same money in Warsaw I would likely be high middle class.

My friend was passing on hearsay, so you are probably correct.
I'm mildly sclerotic :) but the real estate he mentioned could had been in Italy's cheaper Mezzogiorno, like "20km outside of Rome"?

Property Prices In Italy

Property values in Italy are... a bit wild. A villa in Milan is cheaper than one in Los Angeles but more expensive than one in Lazio (Latium) or the ones in the South.

The capoluoghi (capitals of each region of Italy) are usually the most expensive where to look for a house.

Usually (like 4 out of 10 times) the less a place is well connected to a method of transportation the less is valued.

That's not Mezzogiorno but still Central Italy. The price could be right because it is 20km outside of Rome and if there isn't a train station near by well she could be correct.

I used Mezzogiorno in jest. 😇

Although I've met an Italian from Milan who swore by "Africa begins at the Tiber!" 😜

An inferior access to the Cita Eterna would indeed explain an "attractive" price
BTW - I loved the train ride from Fumicino airport to the Termi RR station in Rome 🥰

I take you are from the Continent as me ?

Yes I tended to use that term as well.

A pity I cannot understand the Croatian in the first image :)

The last one shows something I associate with Italy - scooters and motorcycles everywhere :)
I was astonished by grey haired grannies on scooters in Rome. And I loved the designated "motorcycle only" zones at traffic lights - sooo smart!!!111

No can find example from Italy, but this illustrates the concept - at a red light the bikes can filter forward between the cars:

I'm no biker, but not having bikes trying to squeeze past me when I'm "off at the races" once green comes on - but in front of me - makes me feel safer :)
