There is still the ecosystem to worry about. It's pretty much better in everyway to have a large, old, and diverse forest than to have a huge area with just one kind of tree for lumber or a orchard or whatever. We can do both but old growth is definitely something we should preserve if we can.

Honestly, I am completely OK with playing around and changing the environment. Within reason. I want to experiment a little. See if we could improve things. I think desert areas expanding are bad. I'd like to engage in some mild terraforming. Maybe lower a bit of mountain area to reduce rain...

Well... yes. They claim Co2 is a pollutant instead of being a utterly essential part of the planets life cycle. It's like saying "oh no! The oceans have too much water in them! Quick, use the government to stop people from using water otherwise the oceans will kill us all!"

I've seen various people say that we are currently suffering from a noticeable lack of Co2 compared to past historical amounts and should have much more Co2 for the health of plants planet wide and such. Any truth to that?

I wouldn't mind a mega thread that just listed ecological disasters as they happened or something like that. Just as long as it’s not a containment thread and another thread could be made to talk about individual incidents as merited.

Do they even last ten years? That seems very optimistic to me. And is that 10 years at peak efficiency? Because that's actually impossible. Except for in space. Then that's much more achievable.

If we could recycle them it would be one thing, and I could be wrong, but I believe when they are damaged enough they are just done. Into a landfill with no resource recovery. Time to mine more rare earths!
