Yeah, Jodorowsky has done a few interesting things, but he is definitely a loon. In an interview he said that his adaptation was basically "Raping Frank Herbert". Visually it would have been an interesting acid trip, though. There are some fun fan CGIs of his ideas around YT.

Jodorowsky's dune would have been very popular with art critics and people interested in the purely technical aspects of the film, but the Talifan would have been pissed, and it would have led to a cult classic and a split base at best. As to Yueh, well there is nothing to suggest he was good...

That would have fit better in the SyFy miniseries, with gaudy, cheap costumes.

They had his trust, and as I said, Yueh was under Imperial Conditioning, the type that should prevent betrayal. Also, as a medical doctor he was best placed to poison guards and administer anesthetics. He was pretty much the linchpin of the plan.

No he isn't Suk doctors like Yueh were trained to be extremely good at medicine and to be conditioned not to betray you. Soldiers they are not. Some mentats can fight reasonably well, since mentat assassins were a thing. But Suk doctors - not really.
