United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

Trying to stop your opponent from striking jurors is absolutely part of being a trial lawyer, and this is a tactic that seems viable.

From this, it seems everything is normal then. Both sides did their job to try to win the case, which is what I want to see.

It's not preposterous, it's their job to accuse the defense attorney of racism if they think it'll get a better jury. On top of that, choosing jury members based on race is something you aren't allowed to do.

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

Both all of the manslaughter laws include the term 'cause the death of', which is the same as the murder laws. Either Floyd caused the death, at which point it becomes 3rd degree most easily, or (as you argue) he didn't, then he can't be convicted of anything except maybe some sort of assault...

For the record, Ellison publically praised the Antifa Handbook a couple of years ago. He's a scumbag I can't stand. He still has a solid case on Chauvin, though, as all he has to do is show that Chauvin caused Floyd's death a little earlier than otherwise shown. The rest follows easily, and...

Which wasn't concluded by coroners, who I trust a hell of a lot more than you.

This specifically states he was probably asymptomatic from Covid. So next time read your sources, instead of claiming Covid had an effect on his health.

Evidence of this please? Because no coroner referenced damage from the WuFlu.

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

The guy died while the full weight of Chauvin's knee was on his neck (Joe Rogan and Jocko? I think? did a quick analysis of the video, and you can tell that the full weight is on the neck). The man died while this was happening. An autopsy shows that this was caused by being unable to breathe...

United States Minnesota; Man, George Floyd, dies during arrest, cause being a cop kneeling on his neck

No, if he left him alone, and then he died alone, then he wouldn't have caused the death. But because the interaction with Chauvin caused Floyd to die (even if it only made it faster) I think that would make it a caused death. But honestly, IANAL, so I'd want to look up what courts have ruled...

Sure, and Isem was saying, unknowingly, that Chauvin was guilty of murder. Causing the death (in any way, even with preconditions) + depraved heart = 3rd degree murder.

It's in the charging documents, from what I recall. One of the officers noted that he had no pulse, and told the kneeling officer, saying that they should put Floyd on his side. Chauvin responded that he was going to stay on the neck. And again, it doesn't matter if Floyd would have eventually...

That also doesn't matter for this part. That might matter if they want to advance a self-defense defense, but that would also fail. for other reasons. The cop caused his death, and did so in a way that showed a depraved heart (i.e. kneeling on the guy after they knew he had no pulse).

Again, BLM is mostly another thread. But mourning a person who died unjustly as a symbol of many people who the police kill unjustly isn't a problem really. He wasn't perfect, but that in all honesty isn't important.

Riots are for the other thread. This one is about George Floyd, his murder, and the court case.

And had they, they wouldn't be up for murder, as then they wouldn't have shown a depraved heart. They would still have caused the death, by Isem's own logic, but that's not enough for a murder. It's the depraved heart/additional felony (whatever that is) that makes this a murder.

Thus the restraint is causing the death. Which, when we add another felony (a stretch, IMO) or a depraved heart (pretty clear, IMO), makes it murder of second or third degree, respectively. None of the rest of your post even argues with this. Now if it had been a normal, non-evil cop...

If true, that means that the restraint caused Floyd's death, which means that the cop murdered him, if they can show a depraved heart (which isn't hard), or another felony, which would jack it up to 2nd degree.

You just glide over the autopsy that shows that the neck is what killed him. And it doesn't matter if he was extremely likely to die. If they caused the death, that's murder.
