Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

It should also be noted that there is a good possibility that when Blake was on his death bed, he realized that ComStar will only become similar to the SLDF forces that didn't go with the Exodus, and likely he understood that he needed to find a way to prevent that and the only thing he could...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

Given that it is likely that the Kobolians haven't done the naughty with Earth humans for millennia, we don't know. The entire Kobol mess is murky as hell, even without the entire late-series mess causing hiccups.

Forgive me, given that it has been ages and nBSG is a mess in terms of how things work...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

Here's the thing, that isn't likely. Shows like to gloss over logistics because it's slow, tedious, and very unsexy. The few shows that don't gloss over it tend to slow to a crawl. It's a narrative thing that keeps that sort of thing in the background.

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

It should also be noted that the KF drive is as finicky bitch as well, and thus you have to take great care to appease it, especially if it hasn't seen the inside of a drydock in centuries. I wouldn't be so quick to do so, given that the Rag Tag Fleet had to hunt for Tylium quite often (at...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

The Manassas had a 'slow jump' misjump thanks to a first misjump. The ad-hoc repairs that the crew did to the KF drive infrastructure had a flaw that caused the 'slow jump' misjump... which put them in de-facto suspended animation for 274 years... right into a Clan Smoke Jaguar invasion force...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

Given that the KF drive is something of a finicky bitch even during the 'Golden Age' (a certain ship showing up centuries after it jumped because of a drive regulator unit failure for instance), I would put the 'safe' recharge rate at 24 hours, 18 if you want to push it and pay out the ass with...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

From what I've heard of the idea/theory, the interdiction field prevents the creation of the field that allows for the Kobolian FTL drive to function, be those going in or those going out. Essentially, it forces the enemy to take the long way to the planet (i.e. via STL) and thus allows you to...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

Not really, given that in the show the Cylons had to take out the planet-based defense networks as well, lending credence to the possibility that the Colonies developed some sort of interdictor system that requires 1) a planet of sufficient size and 2) a large population and logistics base. If I...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

I wouldn't be surprised that it would be more, given that the various powers have been 'editing' history to fit their ends. The common descriptor of that event has been -last I've checked- 'nuked until the planet died'.

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

We're still talking about an event that was repeated at least once more before the Ares Conventions were made and was repeated wholesale during the first two succession wars.

You don't get it, do you? Anything like Tintavel should never even be considered an option and yet it is considered an option in the Inner Sphere until rules that everyone agreed (effectively enforced with nuclear fail-safes) removed it as an option.

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

No, the THiE is a byproduct of the Innersphere which, may I remind you, is more than willing to recreate Tintavel (i.e. why the Ares Conventions was created in the first place, i.e. when two sides nuked a planet until it literally died) at a drop of a hat? Good to know. Also good to know.

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

Then again, AAI (that's the creator of the ARES gun) kind of vanished off the face of the earth from what I can tell after the turn of the millennium...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

The XM274 and its sibling cannons are rather unique in the fact that they're 75/90/(and if some sources are to be believed) 105mm autocannon capable of firing three rounds a second with surprising accuracy. The basic idea is to cause the armor to fail by multiple hits in the same spot within a...

I would have thought of that as well in my younger years, but if you look up the ARES cannon concept, it makes far more sense. The sad thing is that there aren't many videos on the ARES family.

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

As someone that has been trying that sort of thing, I understand. There are some sacred cows that the setting has and the more diehard fans are more than willing to tear you apart if you sacrifice them. One of those sacred cows is that, for the most part, there have to be several downsides to a...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

As I said, you would think that the Inner Sphere would start standardizing during the Star League because if there is anything that history tells them it's that logistics wins wars...

Battletech Battletech/Battlestar Galactica Crossover - Lucky 13th (the rewrite)

You would think that the Inner Sphere would have decided to standardize during the Star League... you know so you can use the enemy's ammunition (like what happened during the Civil War, the US and CSA regularly used each other's ammunition)...

While true, that makes it just a major headache logistically... but you're right in that regard.
