What if a Man Portable Laser Rifle

Nope, any military-grade laser worth their salt would go right through reflective materials like a hot knife through butter. I mean literally. Reflective materials don't react to intense, sudden heat well. Depending on the wavelength and output, most likely.

What if a Man Portable Laser Rifle

Thing is, with lasers, there aren't really close misses, just getting struck by a laser. The moment you pull that trigger, you'll need precog to even hope to doge. You'll die from blood loss, the entire 'lasers burn things' is over-exaggerated, I'm afraid. Lasers don't really cut at military...

What if a Man Portable Laser Rifle

If anything, they're more worried about bits and pieces of themselves being all over the place as their everything exploded.

What if a Man Portable Laser Rifle

Unlike a bullet, it'll cause significant blood loss. I'm not kidding about the exploding part.

What if a Man Portable Laser Rifle

It's not that slow, really. Even at an output of, oh, 5kJ per pulse or second (depending on if it is a pulse laser or a continuous wave laser), you'll explode than burn. Hollywood really screwed up on the entire 'lasers causes burns only' thing.

What if a Man Portable Laser Rifle

Not really from what I can understand. Remember you only need kilojoules to kill a person, you'll need megajoules to harm tanks, and from what I remember that's where you'll start seeing the 'explosion of superheated air' effect.

What if a Man Portable Laser Rifle

Depends on several factors: output, if its a pulse laser, wavelength (avoid IR at all costs, it's complete and utter shit), battery weight, rifle weight, total weight, and above all else efficiency (i.e. how much heat the weapon generates for zapping things). If, say, the laser is even 50%...
