What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

No, it isn't even a financial empire anymore. Berlin, Tokyo, Seoul, and New York City are far more important when it comes to being financial centers than London.

What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

Rational/wise when you can essentially spend to keep it that way and no one can really contest that, but by the turn of the 20th, that is no longer possible... but the idea was so entrenched that it is effectively a religion by practically everyone. If the Liberals didn't decide to turn a budget...

What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

Wow, you haven't looked all that deep into British history haven't you? The moment that Britain was unified, they played divide and conquer on the entire continent for centuries, dumping ridiculous (and I mean ridiculous here) sums of money and treasure to pit the continent against each other...

What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

No, this military was so expensive that no taxation regimen can maintain it. Remember the Royal Navy's policies and it becomes far much clearer.

What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

As I said, not going to happen. The fur trade is just too profitable to screw up with and is one of the major cash cows other than tea. The Appalachians were the furthest that the British were going to go with the fur trade on the line.

What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

That won't happen because the British were literally printing money with the Native Americans via the fur trade, to the point that it was obscene. The colonists threatened that.

What If? The British Empire Never Fell?

Here's the thing, Britain couldn't. The moment that the US broke away, the only way that the Empire was going to go is down. Remember, Germany itself started outpacing the economic, industrial, and scientific output of Britain just at the dawn of the 20th. The British Empire was going to die one...
