On the subject, Trump's made it pretty clear that he's going to let everyone reap their rewards on this one. It's delightfully Federalist. The municipalities enabling this will either:
A. Vote out the enablers and vote in someone who will crack down and restore order.
B. Suddenly find something wrong with the protests on November 4th and then crack down.
C. Fall into a Detroit style depression as the mob ransacks the city like slow motion Vandals.
The elected leadership of these cities are selling out their own constituents to better enable Federal level Democratic policy. It's literally casting a spell from their own hit points and if it doesn't work, they're going to be the ones down to half health and no mana when the Orc closes in for melee.

I have cheap solar panels on my RV, and a propaine back up generator built into the thing. If the RV park I live at loses power I can get by for a day or so. And the black out thing isn't new, it happened last summer too.
We're basically a third world country complete with corruption these days.
I have been told by one of the guys I work with (from a desert town in South Cali) the opposite. And that it is a great state.
Another who is a master in economics has told me they could separate from the union and be fine

First problem and this is a big one, California is not water secure. We get quite a bit of our water from the Colorado river. We have water disputes with every other state who uses that river and mexico because we hog it. And we hog that water because we need it because with out it LA country dies of thirst.
All the federal government has to do to demolish us is cut off the water and if we leave the union that's the first thing they will do, even in a peaceful divorce they will do it because this is a long standing grievance other states in the union have with us.
Second problem, California's environmentalists have heavily campaigned against us producing our own power thus we have to import a great deal of it from other states, the federal government can easily cut us off from this and leave us in the litteral dark.
third there are a multitude of Milatary bases, including one of the marine core training bases, this gives the federal government nearby troops to spank us like an unruly child if we decide to be that stupid.
this is before you get to the fact that California has over promised its pensoners for years and in 2 years that comes due as boomers retire en mass and we don't have the money to pay for it.
In a purely peaceful divorce our economy completely implodes, our cities go dark, and we get to stay thirsty.
If the move to leave is contested we lose bad, like very bad.
That is what I tried telling them. Cali relies to much on the neighbor states. They say they will have all these trade deals, even though I told them the states next door heavily contest what Cali is doing.

This means you have to have an accurate understanding of your own capabilities and that of your enemies. If your lead by Pride and Ego your going to have a real bad time.
This can play into the riots as well. They think they know the people they are going against, and the like, yet they don't realize they don't, and they don't even know themselves!

Some people do not understand that just because we are not willing to use violence so readily as they do, does not mean there will not come a time when the line is crossed, and there will be consequences when it is.

Makes you wonder how the cities will react to some nice class action lawsuits against them and the DA's office. I mean peaceful Republican protests or gatherings? Denied not allowed to happen due to Corona. Democrat or BLM meetings and protests? Happen with nary a problem. Protestors that cause damage and injury? DA office is letting them off without a slap on the wrist.
Yeah it will not be fun when they are called on to explain this to the court.

The people who defend themselves will be arrested even if the entire situation is caught on camera
If they don't get arrested, they'll still lose their guns and the ability to gain guns, and they'll also be attacked online
They can't exactly barricade their homes and neighborhoods in-time either
Carl, all I ever see form you is this mentality.

And you are wrong, in areas outside of cities, that have a large gun life, all they have to do is step outside holding their guns. They will have their neighbors defneidng them as they will all stand out. it is like that one video of people standing outside their street and have a row of gun toting patriots standing there as the protest peacefully passed through the area
