Moving South, anything I should know?

Ha! Good point. Fortunately, I hate swimming, but I'll remember that. I'm not sure that I've heard of Alligators in Alabama though.
They are in Alabama to along with their retarded cousin the Alligator Snapping Turtle.

Oh and on another note. When you finally move there. Buy a University of Alabama T Shirt and Sweatshirt. Trust me it will come in handy down the road.

I'll probably wait until I actually start following College football, but that sounds like a good idea. Hopefully it doesn't get closed down this year.

Dont worry about being Gay or Bi, you will meet plenty oddly enough. Just dont go around bragging and be careful of who you hit on.
Definitely this, while I will say that most people are fine with people being Gay or Bi it's in a very 'What you do in your private life is your own business' type of way, so don't go about proclaiming you are and expect people to fawn on it and avoid public displays of effection.

(To be fair Southeners are typically shy and typically dislike even heterosexual couples making out in public so it's not something solely against Non-heterosexuals.)

This is optional, you don't have to wreck a expensive truck by getting mud in the transmission to be respected and I have been here my whole life, also lifting the truck isn't a necessity either despite what the 'lift 'bruh's' tell you.

Trust me very few will criticize you for it and also Lawn Mower racing is a thing you might want to check up on watching it's cool.

This makes sense. Interesting question, what would they think of a Gadsen rainbow flag? I mean, there's a sticker on my laptop of this, so people are likely to see me with it pretty frequently (though probably not at work, as I'm pretty sure they hand out laptops). My guess is that a good amount of the annoyance comes from people associating gay with democrat, so hopefully that solves some of the problem.

This seems fair. I've never been big about PDAs, so that should be avoidable.

remember that just minding your own business can be considered rude
What exactly does this mean? I don't want to be nosy, but is being nosy polite in the South?

That should help and if some of the few sh*t that can't mind their business starts something just say. "It's my business what I do in my private life and if you think me being gay is a sin and it's your duty to stop me, then why aren't you stopping people from lying, stealing or coveting on a day to day basis?"

That will shut them up pretty quickly.

NO! the fact is that Southerners like it when you mind your own business and being nosey is alright as long as you don't interfere with what other doing "Watch the neighbor's doing something over the fence is okay as long as you don't bother them about it" asking about it or showing interest is what their doing is fine but for the love of all that's holy don't complain about what they are doing.

I think what Bear Ribs is implying it that while Southeners typically mind their own business their are exceptions to this, cashiers and other people in public might ask you politely. "How has your day has gone?" in public and just flat out ignoring them and walking off without at least giving the minimal "It's going fine" with a slight smile can make you come across as unfriendly or just unsocial.

Yeah as long as people are just asking polite questions and seem friendly people wont complain if your asking about what they are doing or how they are doing personally, in fact that is the most commonly asked question you will hear from people you are familiar with is "How's it going?" It's when demands are being issued or people start being confrontational about things that they have no business with that things get ugly.

I don't have a car (or even a license), so I'm avoiding that right now.
Do you have any plans for getting a car or truck in the future and if so do you have a idea of what you want?

Also I can tell you a few of the prices if your interested in living cost.

I hope you either work near where you live or are prepared to spend a lot of money using Uber, because the heat and humidity/cold and humidity will make life a nightmare if you have to do shopping.

Also, if you intend to embrace the 2A life, having a car makes you less likely to get mugged and more able to get to ranges with multiple guns and lots of ammo.

Yeah, I plan on getting a car, but in the meantime, I've got an apartment near where I work (like a mile out) and I plan on biking there. Getting a gun is a priority, and I have quickly realized that a car is a major help with that.

I was a little screwed on apartment prices because I needed the location because I don't have a car, but I'm paying about 1.1k/month for my apartment. Quick question, is furniture significantly cheaper in the south? Because if so, I might buy some of it down there and pay for delivery.

As for cars, I probably want a pickup. Any estimations on cost?

Are you talking just bare basic furniture or anything in particular and on a scale of one to ten what quality are you looking for?

Mostly basic, like a couch, table, and stools. I'm not really looking for high or low quality, just something that works, is comfortable, and cheap.

That would depend a lot on where in Huntsville you're living. Besides the obvious go-to of WalMart, you might get lucky and have a few thrift stores within a short drive that have decent quality used furniture or perhaps even an Ikea or an Ollies.

That said, you might be able to find out about good deals from smaller furniture stores from coworkers once you get in town.

Yeah furniture prices fluctuate depending on were you go a couch is anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars mostly and if you are tight on cash only buying as needed over time sure a couch is nice but a bed will serve just as well until your more stable monetary wise.

Huh, that's a lot cheaper than up North. I'll wait to buy then, and pay for delivery.

Expensive truck? Psh only trucks from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s are used for muddin here in GA with a few exceptions at least where I lived.

Some may ask about the flag, others would not give a single fuck

As an ex walmart cashier this is somewhat true. If you are having a bad day a Cashier should always make you feel a little better as they smile and ask your day, often striking up a conversation. I gained repeat customers to my register that way.

So just be a nice person, always answer back even on bad days.

Used or new? If buying used are you gonna buy from a dealership or from an owner?

I got a ranger that needed a little work for 2500, and that was because I was picky. You can probably get a decent truck on Craigslist or various owner selling sites for under 10k, probably even under 5.
