A lot of the US does not give you "friendly reminders" like the Sietch does but instead is willing to go straight to violence when they are displeased with whatever it is you're doing no matter how legal it is.
Which is... not something to be proud of. Russia is like that too. This is thug shit, civilized people can still defend their pride while not acting like animals.
I'm sorry, but I'm not buying the idea that saying a slur is worthy of the death sentence. That's just unhinged.

The US is a lot more like Russia and the CCP than most like to admit, and the rest of the world needs to stop thinking Americans/America is the 'shining city on the hill'.
And well, pretending human's aren't animals with slightly better tool use and self-recognition skills one of those lies that the liberal world order/media has pushed onto a lot of the younger gens in the West. People like to pretend human's are Vulcans, when most of the world is closer to Klingons, and no amount of 'civilization' will change that.
Worthy or not, it's a slur that would only come out of the mouth of KKK-like folks in the US, and would likely result in a physical altercation that, depending on the mood of who it was said to, could escalate to lethal levels.

Again, the fact that this is a reality is not something to boast about, especially if your freaking relatives are acting like this.
Someone dumb or racist enough to utter that slur against an African-American in the US, in-person, is likely KKK-friendly or worse.
Kicking the ass's of legit racists of that sort is something most of the US public can get behind.
So your can say we shouldn't boast about it, but what you see as 'boasting' is just telling shit how it is, instead of propping up the illusions so many people have about the US.
Many of Quark's observations about humanity are spot on; him ripping into Sisko over slavery and concentration camps was gem of a speech, and this one was a good observation on the true nature of humanity.
We are an animal, and will never be so 'civilized' that such feelings/actions are removed from our society.
Too many people like to pretend the world is nicer and cleaner than it really is, and don't like when that illusion is broken.

African american culture is on the whole a replica in minature of southern cracker culture and is thus a honor society. If in the Ghetto you do not respond to an (insult) in a particular way that is practically an invitation for further violence and depredation upon your self and your household.
You must then give a response to said insult, either taking the offender aside for a stern converstion, leaving in after a scathing remark of your own or if extreme enough violence. This varies on location and situation.
We are Jews our social situation is different we grow up with the fact that.
A. We will always be horrifically outnumbered.
b. No one is going to come to our aid.
Thus for survival reasons we tend to have the view that you should keep our temper in check because for us a lack of self control can have bad results.

This confuses me.
I have dealt with people who lived by those ethos's and cultural context my entire life.
Generally speaking the rule tends to be don't start any drama and there wont be any drama. People who are reactive with their violence generally speaking are pretty safe to be around as long as your polite and don't start stuff. The people who go out their way to start problems because of a 'cause' do a lot more damage.

The key thing I take issue with is the fact that he didn't say his family would shoot you if you called them house blacks; he said they'd shoot if you so much as used the term in their presence. No warning, no consideration for the context; just *bang*, without a second thought. "Why did you do that?!" "He called me a house black!" "No; he just asked you if you wanted your house painted black!" "He deserved it anyways; because he upset me." "You're a monster, and I'm calling the police!" *bang* "You shouldn't have upset me."

You entirely misunderstood me.
Context is very important. My wife and daughters toss the N-word around like it's candy and you can tell, just from how it gets said, if the person being referred to is someone they like or someone they'd like to say "goodbye and good riddance" to.
