The battlefield will be the Straights of Salamis off the Eastern Coast of Salamis Island. The Turtle Ships will attempt to deny the Ottoman fleet advance further northwest around the Island.

Rough positions of the Korean (in lieu of Greeks) and Ottomans (in lieu of Persians)

With the Ottomans attacking, Yi-Sun-sin and his Joseon Korean fleet of thirteen Turtle Ships (as per the Battle of Myeongnyang) have decided that these narrow straights are the best place to defend the rest of Greece and defeat the Ottomans due to the narrowness of the Straights. The Ottoman Commander wishes to force their way through the Straights to Gulf of Elefsina or something. Removing the Turtle Ships will be paramount to this and achieving full maritime superiority. Wind will be favorable to the Ottomans to encourage their deployment in the morning however they wish but by midday the winds and currents will shift to favor the Koreans and flow to their backsides.

To destroy the thirteen Turtle Ships, the Ottomans have brought 222 galleys and 56 galliots equipped with a total of 750 estimated cannon (with lower levels of ammunition as per OTL) to bear. They have thirty four thousand troops, thirteen thousand sailors and thirty seven thousand galley slaves in the fleet. Sub commanders are famed Muslim corsairs Mehmed Siroco and Uluc Ali.

I have to admit, I don't really believe the Korean ships actually have enough armour to resist the main battery cannon of an Ottoman Galley enough to actually make this a contest.

Well thanks for responding. If that's true, then that would make the battle pretty impossible to survive, much less win, for the Koreans then. It just seemed like an interesting force matchup considering they were halfway around the world but only separated by two decades chronologically. It seems like a big gray area when it comes to theorycrafting of who could win in a matchup even with all of the variables in warfare.

The lack of escorting Panokseon for the Koreans is the biggest issue. A combination of thick timbers and a thin layer of plate is probably going to be quite effective. However, the centre-gun of an Ottoman galley should usually be around a 40 - 50pdr. It will fire extremely slowly, however. And the Turtle Ships are heavily armed, but the cannon are not heavy.
