Philosophy What are your favorite logical consequences of a world element in fiction?

I really love “I never would have thought of that” type consequences of some element in a fictional world. Take for example the fact that beaches in Spongebob are goo, because they are underwater and so a water beach would just be a canyon. This is a frivolous example. There’s also the case of this one story where there exists images that kill you; after these come about, it becomes illegal to post images on the Internet across the world, and mid-2000s the 'net goes back to looking like Usenet.

Soulmate bonds. Christ, they result in so many weird things. For example, you can uplift a civilization's science decades into the future by properly exploiting the type of soul mate bond where the first words you hear from your soul mate are written on your wrist. Simply have a country ironcladly plan that every 20 years, they'll gather a ton of unmated people under 20, and have them introduce themselves to each other using a series of important scientific discoveries/important world events, and boom, suddenly a chunk of population 20 years prior is born with major scientific breakthroughs/world events written on their wrists. Even worse, this can be daisychained to send info even further back, by setting up an idea to change the introduction to what they had just discovered from babies that year.

And people instead want to use soulmate fics to write romance. For shame.

Newbies even those who’ve trained very hard

NOT beating even mooks who actually ARE in some really horrible criminal business and thus likely DO have much expetience fighting and killing

82 Chapters in and this guy could barely beat the lowest rank of the Kengan Association and said lowest rank had two losses and only one win which was against a guy nearing his retirement and not doing well

He later tries fighting a bunch of mooks who were part of some international crime syndicate that has many CQC Experts as employees

And this guy was easily beating the shit out of a blackbelt in the very first chapter

If your setting’s gonna be a world full of many skilled and physically powerful experts, then don’t expect to be hot shit even amongst the mooks
