If your unfamiliar with the name John Tiller, perhaps you are familiar with some of his many, many game titles he's helped develop over the past few decades.

He began his career at Talonsoft in 1995, which was a video game company famous for its Battleground series, and perhaps most famously the wargame Battleground: Gettysburg. In 1996, John Tiller founded his own game company, John Tiller software and over the next two decades developed and released over 80 commercial games and worked on more then twenty research contracts on behalf of the US Military and government due to his speciality in wargaming and simulation.

His website is still up here:

The last game he released was Scheldt '44 and like many of his other games, was a hex based wargame, this one covering the various campaigns that took place in the Netherlands during 1944.

Damn, I recall playing Gettysburg and Borodino games from the Battleground series, they were good and also quite educational for me as there was not yet much information available on these battles on the internet and book selection here on the subject was next to non existant.
