One of the pet peeves of mine with ISOTs is that people don't take into account the enormous disruption that such an event will cause. So much of our world is globalized now. Whole supply chains for industry, food, and agriculture will be disrupted. While a nation isot to the past would stomp the world around it, a lot of those technological advantages will be negated by the imminent crisis resulting from energy, resource, and food shortages that develop as a result of the now non-existent supply chains and trade routes.
The CA government basically banned fireworks on the 4th of July and most of CA lit off huge fireworks as a massive middle finger to the order. I couldn't sleep at all that night from the sheer amount of fireworks lit in my neighborhood.
California may be the 6th largest economy in the world but, its propped by a whole bunch of other states. Its arguably a failed state right now considering all its looming internal problems right now. Adding a fuel shortage, food shortage, and worst of all a water shortage would probably see the state collapse into freefall.Urban California will disintegrate into Mad-Maxery by itself very quickly owing to the lack of water from Lake Mead and food imports. Local military units will try and restore order on their own, they may even do so with assistance from the rurals. I mean, what SF and LA will be facing is the utter collapse of society. And this is an environment with a highly infectious flu around, which will make things even worse. Under such circumstances they will either abandon their previous ideals or die.
No the question is would they even be able to enforce it? While CA is a fairly left leaning state, many people outright ignored the lockdown orders and mask mandates despite some of the harsh penalties. The question is, is whether they would want to. Would they?
