ASB deciding he wants to change things up a notch teleports the USA and USSR to 980 AD. How would this change the cold war? Would this change the outcome or would america still win?

I think the USA may have time to save the Native American populations from the plague that came before the Europeans popped up with their own Smallpox, if they don't accidentally kill them off with a different wave of sickness and vice versa

Both countries are in deep shit due to loss of their trading partners - prolly give the Cold War a break. IMO both countries turn inward for a time.
No NATO, no Warpact, no Chinkoms, no Norkoms, no South Korea, Japan or Taiwan, no Cuba, no Vietnam and Vietnam dominated Indochina, no Soviet proxies in Africa or ME ... the lines of confrontation, of pushing the limits of one's influence - all gone.
The USA can set up shop in Hamburg, the Soviets in London - and so what? Both are exclaves which have to be supplied by sea (by LST best) and - once airfields are built - by air. And exactly what benefits - besides penis waving - does possession provide?
The USA does not give a shit about Indians, especially as they will catch all sorts of nasties from wild animals wandering across the border. And that's impossible to stop.
The Middle East is changed forever regardless of any UT actions - the wiping out of various Turkik/Persian states in the Caucasus and Central Asia by the ISOTed USSR changes the political landscape and thus history beyond recognition. Need I say anything besides - there are NO Seldjuk Turks?
Iran c.1000AD - the Samanid State (the part where Seljuk founded his dynasty) has its core ripped out, the Sallarids also weakened.
With both countries struggling with their economic woes the USSR might not collapse, as with US farmers screaming for aid (and that's a lot of votes) the Reagan Administration (and subsequent Administrations) might subsidise sales to the Soviets.

Soviets conqer Europe and Asia,USA both Americas.Figting in Africa.USA maybe take Japan and England,to hold soviets in check.
But world with USA and soviets gone would be more interesting - China would take part of soviet lands,Germany would take another.And Mexico would happily annex would - be - USA.
