Presume that The Institute somehow decides to support it via replacing key figures with synths or doing “experiments” with things involving agriculture WITHOUT committing mass murder to get back the crops

I wouldn't trust the Institute with anything less then this.

It's just like the BoS and NCR relationship. They'd make so much more progress united especially in some of those Fallout 2 alternate endings where the Brotherhood becomes a major research and technology house for the NCR instead of paranoid and violently isolationist technomilitants.

Course the Institute just seemed way more worse. Eastern Brotherhood was kinda authoritarian as well. They need to learn to be better neighbors to ideologically adjacent non-threats like a burgeoning Minutemen/Commonwealth.
