President James K. Polk
There were a lot of good presidents but Polk did the nessary dirty work of making America into a great power. He settled America's northern boarder with the british empire, and then successfully fought and won the Mexican American war a war where plenty of European nations bet on mexico as the victor. The only reason we didn't get Baha during his administration was because of literal treachery from the diplomats on the ground.
California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona were all gained because of his efforts, new mexico and colado also gained territory from the war. He turned America from a regional power at best and laid the ground work for the united states current strength.
