Election 2020 State Legislatures

Good news on the state legislature front—it looks like the democrats have flipped not a single-one, whereas in my home state the entire Tricameron was flipped R—the General Court and the Executive Council, in addition to the re-election of our popular Republican Governor, Chris Sununu, who previously had to contend with a unified democratic opposition in the General Court and the Executive Council.

(New Hampshire has a pseudo-tricameral system of government with a classic two chambers in what we call the General Court, and then a third called the Executive Council which serves as an elected check on the Governor’s power. All three and the Governorship are now Republican).

what happened in your state at the state legislature level?

Not an US citizen, but I've heard from a guy on the HPCA board who is a Councilman in Colorado Springs the following:

The blue wave continues with almost every statewide office now in dem hands.

In the state legislature, we lost one Republican Senate seat to the dems

and in the State House we held steady so only outnumbered two to one....

He got elected for the State House, though.

Surprised gasp. "God...she's a yankee..." (grabs fine holy water.)

It's a good thing we still have some power when it comes to the federal government even if Biden whens by this point it isnt going to be at all easy to get the legislation the dems wanted through without compromise.

To be honest, I wish the Federal Government only maintained the Army and the foreign Service, and relations with the Native peoples. It would be nice if all social and economic policy for my state were decided in Concord instead of the Federal City.

Wasn't that basically the US under the Articles of Confederation?

No, that was the U.S. before Andrew Jackson in theory the federal goverment is suppose to only handle affairs outlined in the constitution with the rest delegated to the state's.

Anyone who brings up the articles of confederation as a prime example of what a night-watchmen libertarian wants is either demonizing those who want small government or misguided in their understanding of what a small government entails.
