Shadow Legion (Destiny 2) vs Mass Effect Galaxy

The Shadow Legion replace the Reapers, for every Reaper Destroyer in original canon there are now twenty Shadow Legion carriers. Calus opens up by attacking the Citadel at the start of ME3 with a overwhelming Taken Army and capturing it.

Calus then uses conventional forces before sending Taken through the Relays to overwhelm and infect the other planets.

Bold of you to assume that C-Sec couldn't easily handle a mere twenty Shadow Legion Carriers when defending the Citadel.

In my defense didn't Cerberus take it over with a lot smaller ships?

Shadow Legion Carriers are a lot bigger and would carry more than what Cerberus brought.

But at the beginning of Mass Effect 3 the Reaper Invasion hadn't begun since the Destiny forces are replacing the Reapers then that means the Citadel hasn't been hampered by the refugee crisis and depletion of Council Forces caused by the sudden Reaper invasion.

Thus the Citadel Fleet will be ready and C-Sec can prepare to close up the Citadel instead of be taken by surprise by the teleporting Cerberus forces (seriously they just appear everywhere they want like a damn plot device in ME3. Worse then CoD Russians). The Citadel superstructure is supposedly able to withstand significant bombardment which could allow a mass of Mass Effect forces to counterattack if the Shadow Carriers stick around and in the name of the Imperial Japanese Navy "DECISIVE BATTLE" can be had!

And we all know how the War in the Pacific turned out for the Imperial Japanese Navy!

Hmmm the way I see it the beginning of ME3 is herald by the Reapers attacking Earth at the start of the game then quickly other locations.

I am doing an alteration to the canon where Calus also Captures the Citadel during the same time which should be very possible even with 20 Carriers.

TBF The Cabal Armor is harder than Hive Ship battle armor and was designed to be better defended and Hive Armor can withstand several hundred Gigatons worth of force without a scratch.

So the Carriers while they lack personal shields are extremely will armored and basically eat the entire Citadels fire Mass Drives with no damage, but EMP's will probably crash the ships because they're vulnerable to power EMP's.

The problem is ultimately there's only 200,000 C-Sec forces who have to cover 54km in comparison each Cabal Carrier is about 680 meters in length with several decks.

So it's roughly 2x a Naval Carrier so comparatively it should have at least 10,000 Troops so roughly 200,000 Professionally Trained super soldiers total which are going to be a good deal superior in skill and gear to the C-Sec forces imo.

🤔

Hmm in this case tho the Shadow Legion ships are going to be flying fortress that could eat fire power that would annihilate several armadas several times over.

They could honestly probably take over the ground combat and use their Psions to turn the Citadels on features against C-Sec and they're capable of calling reinforcements quite easily and quicker than C-Sec.

I'm still deeply traumatized by the beginning of Mass Effect 3 but I feel that you are basically right. Though the Citadel was initially spared IIRC which allowed the teleporting Cerberus to magically appear there and take it over somehow (while conducting fifteen thousand other major operations like attacking Salarian STG bases, overtaking entire Systems Alliance colonies, assaulting biotic facilities and taking on an entire Systems Alliance fleet etc).

I have no idea on the calcs and am not particularly interested in it. All I can say is that if Mass Effect warships are in the general ballpark of being able to threaten Destiny vessels, then there's a potential hope of averting the invasions impact right from the beginning. And that's engaging them at the Citadel.

It's apparent that the C-Sec forces are pretty lightly equipped and stretched out by and large, as they were overwhelmed twice in game, once in the first game and once in the third game and in rather short order but if they can close the Citadel in time that'll provide at least some significant delay, possibly days even, before the Shadow Legion can access and invade the Citadel (I have no idea the access of the Citadel if its closed but I'm assuming there's no convenient ventilation ports so you'd have to blast in or something).

And once the Shadow Legion does access the Citadel the C-Sec and whatever other forces are within (Council forces there, mercenaries, operatives etc) will have had time to prepare for a prolonged defense in depth in urban terrain or other guerrilla forms of resistance PLUS there would be additional assets in that there could be Citadel Armada and other armed starships located within the Citadel that could provide potentially extremely devastating direct fire bombardment against any Shadow Legion incursion.

All of this would delay and deplete the initial invasion forces from seizing the Citadel and allowing our Hero Protagonist to Shepard (get it?) allied forces to take the fight back to the invaders and crush them in DECISIVE BATTLE like the Imperial Japanese Navy did to the US Navy at Midway.
