Recommended Media by Openly Right/Conservative Leaning Creators

Books: Grimmnoir, MHI by Larry Correia
Generally a lot of media tends to be dominated by Left/Progressive creators, mostly due to self selection, which seems to lead to a culture of most of the few right leaning ones tend to either hide it or play it down. However in this day where it seems a lot of media is going hard left, figured it would be nice to compile recommendations for those creations that are openly Right or Conservative leaning that can be supported financially.

Which I find particularly necessary since it's hard to find lists of this stuff in general beyond a few sparing recommendations. Who knows, with enough support maybe these works can be ascended from just the books/comics they tend to be locked to into bigger franchises. General idea would be to list stuff similarly aligned individuals could be giving their money to in order to support them.

Note this thread should focus more heavily on smaller franchise rather than media conglomerates by and large, bit wonky if there's like one right leaning person on something when all the rest within are hard left (though granted keeping their job may be a feat itself). Exceptions can be made if the big media work is based on something from a smaller work as needed.

By this same token this thread is focusing on the nature of the creators here and the works they made that you can recommend spending money on. Not works that you can see such themes in necessarily while the creator is otherwise politically silent on the matter, since that's a bit subjective by comparison.

Similarly while we can obviously list examples of past creators like Tom Clancy (Or say C.S. Lewis), the goal of the exercise should probably lean more towards still living creators, as the estates may not have the same leanings depending, particularly a few generations down the line. If you want you can even throw in crowd funders in here to get support for them, since that fits the general them of the thread as well.

Anyway that said, some obvious examples:

Books:

Grimnoir and Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. Have these on Audiobook myself. Read through all of Grimnoir which I think is better overall, but later books in Monster Hunter International have turned around some of the earlier stuff I didn't like, such as the chosen one trope to raise it higher overall. I've got the core series on audio as well but haven't gotten a chance to run through the latest one yet, though will say one of the side books written by someone else I didn't like as much so ended up returning that one.

Overall both series are solid enough that I'd been considering branching out into his other books in genres I'm not as fond of by comparison, particularly since I'm trying to get into scifi stuff rather than this Urban Fantasy type of works.

I'm similarly partially through the Tom Clancy series which I'm liking more than I expected for a Political Thriller type of series, though I'm iffier on what I'm hearing on the later books which is why I've slowed down on those. Granted this kind of example isn't really what the thread should be focusing on but it's an edge case that can be thrown in if so desired.

Anyway that should do for a start I think. Feel free to post your on recommendations, preferably with links as well just to keep it easy to know what specifically you're referring to.

Comics: Fables by Bill Willingham, Punisher (2014/Vol. 10) by Nathan Edmondson, Punisher War Journal (1988)/War Zone/Armory by Chuck Dixon, Squadron Supreme by Mark Gruenwald
Posted this earlier in the Based Franchises/Celebrities thread, pertaining to older school Comics.

Just to bump this thread up.

There are some Conservative Mainstream Comic Books I could recommend:

> Fables by Bill Willingham whose one of the better known Conservative Comic Book Writers in the industry. He wrote Fables somewhat as an metaphor to the State of Israel and the associated diaspora of those people and the like. So it's heavily Conservative from that POV if you agree with it. But there's also themes such as ridiculing a self described "Marxist" whose an early villain in the series, gun ownership, individual and property rights, nation building and other disparate themes and fairly Libertarian.

Most importantly though, it's an excellent story.

> Punisher (2014/Vol. 10) by Nathan Edmondson. Has Conservative themes which... according to some seemed so Conservative it made some people uncomfortable, which of course should only increase its appeal.

> Punisher War Journal (1988)/War Zone/Armory by Chuck Dixon and others, most notably Mike Baron. These are the iconic Punisher storylines... and ones that made the Punisher an iconic character before Garth Ennis and the ultra violent MAX imprint almost made him a caricature of himself (and more leftist randomly in his quips). Like the previous entries... not very political but if there was a theme, it'd overall be defined as right wing or conservative.

Chuck Dixon also wrote Nightwing and Birds of Prey both of which had good story arcs but again, not overtly political.

> Squadron Supreme by Mark Gruenwald back in the 80's. It's a miniseries that has everything to do with the Tyranny of Do-Gooders and people who want to make everything "better" for everyone. It was one of the first serious attempts at 'superheroes' being more pro-active in changing society.

Comics: Jawbreakers by Richard C. Meyer, Isom by Eric July
Hrm... Might be good to split these threadmark wise. Don't know if I'm going to be able to keep up entirely but like I said I want a list of this stuff so I'll see what I can do. Maybe Threadmarks for Books, Index for Comics, and others as necessary for the other two? Would help parse it down.

Granted, that requires everyone post only of one type, though I can quote to split it myself if I need to... Well bare minimum moving this down here:

Comics:

Jawbreakers by Richard C. Meyer (And main artists John Malin and Chuck Dixen). Caught these on crowdfunding on a whim, I think the main writer Meyer, AKA Ya Boi Zach, is mostly politically neutral (Aware of the Youtube channel covering comics being mostly against the current bent but politically it's closer to the chest) though the artists tend to be the ones who can't get work in mainline, I know Chuck Dixen for example is right leaning, which clears this for this thread in my book, not directly sure on John Malin either, but this works overall I think for the thread.

First book ended on a cliff hanger (Something I've seen a few crowdfunders do, you don't necessarily get a complete story which is annoying), but the second resolved it and seemed to complete the story entirely, something Zach noted probably screwed him later as he tried to make more between the blanks. Have the pair and they were solid overall, got a few of the previous works on his recent 1 dollar crowdfunder as well, though like all crowdfunders they take a bit to come in.

Isom by Eric July. Caught this early too, like at 4000 or so. There's only one book of this out so far, though presumably the next is coming, and by the set of rules laid down there's going to be no multiverse stuff, which honestly I'm burnt out on as is so I'm for. Book was solid but it's clearly only a part one and building up to something that isn't clear yet, so I can't give it a full recommend till I try the second one, but it's intriguing thus far overall and could shape to something solid.

Notably these crowdfunders tend to be a limited time window to actually be able to purchase the work, making them finicky to recommend since at best you might get them on resale instead which doesn't really support the creators. Though as they accrue a library later crowdfunds may include the previous books.

I know also there's cases (Like with the Ethan Van Sciver's Cyber Frog series, which I can't recommend having not read them sadly) were they offer alternative ways to get them like on Ebay, but this isn't always the case. Another reason to have this thread to be used to bring crowd funders to attention I guess.
