That's a very specific question. I would personally say that that sounds pretty bad, imo, but I am not super familiar with what the standard for a dishonorable discharge is. Fleeing from service in a time of war is pretty fucking bad though. I know historically that would've been grounds for execution.Do you think deserting the military for 12 years by running to Canada and then getting caught and brought back to your AIT that you ran from should have worse punishment then a general discharge?

I know, I can do math. Its why I said it was pretty bad. But honestly its something I would also expect. That exact time frame is the same as Bo Bergdahl and Mannings enlistment. That's no coincidence, I can assure you. At that time we were enlisting basically anyone with a pulse who came to an Army recruiter to hit numbers and predictably we had things like this crop up. I would guess wanting to avoid news attention like those other two did is part of why they got a general discharge. Before she left it was a time of war. So she deserted during wat

Well then.
It is, but once you are in, you are in... you dont get to back out.I've been under the impression that the USA operated on a volunteer military, not a conscript one.
