The city car was well a bad car but it was an important part of history and laid the foundations for todays electric cars if only because it taught people what not to do.
Volkswagen SP2, sports car designed and made by the Brazilian Volkswagen branch. 11,123 cars were made between 1972 and 1976. As a sports car it's pretty anemic, having a 75hp engine that pushed it up to 160 kph/100 mph max speed and 0-100 kph acceleration in 16 seconds(people used to say the SP stood for "Sem Potência" - "No Power"). Still, it was a gorgeous car.
The Scottish Aviation Scamp, a 1960's electric car with rather pitiful speed and range. It was probably intended more as a tech demonstrator rather than a production car. Scottish Aviation owned and operated Prestwick Airport before the airport was nationalised. It also developed the Pioneer and Twin Pioneer utility aircraft and was instrumental in the development of the Bulldog prop trainer.
It was a brave attempt at a fledgeling technology, I'll give it that, though the fact that one seems to be propped up on bricks doesn't speak well for it.
