Greta Gerwig, maker of Barbie, Little Women, and Lady Bird, has just gotten a contract to produce two Narnia movies. Which ones aren't clear yet, but as a few have already been made she will probably pick things up in the middle of the series.

I'm not very optimistic about this given her record, but Barbie isn't even out yet so there's time to see what it looks like and make more judgements on how this will go in a month when we can see more of Greta's work.

Strangely all I've seen Greta Gerwig in was as a co-lead in the quirky thriller film White Noise starring opposite of Adam Driver. Couldn't get much insight on her personality or anything but she did a good job in her acting role. Glancing at her film credits as a Director, she certainly seems to have the chops for it. From what I've heard all of the films she's made have been well made and crafted. We'll see if Barbie survives the big budget studio treatment that has waylaid other up and coming Directors.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I hear about something more worrying than just the Director choice. I have no interest in seeing another Little Women remake so I guess I'll have to scope out her debut Lady Bird if its streaming anywhere and see how I feel about her after the fact.

Turns out Lady Bird was streaming for free on one of the platforms I have available to me. I saw it and I liked it so... I think she could be good for this kind of film in many respects. More optimistic but I'm firmly in the wait and see camp.

Barbie seems to be misandrist woke feminist trash from all indications by the Youtube reviewers I generally tend to agree with, so this is probably going to be a dumpster fire.
