I just thought of something- assuming WotC realizes what a stupid move this was, will they become even more "woke" to try and make amends? If they need a scapegoat who will it be?

They are already doing their damage control moves. WotC will do(on April 3rd) a 'Content Creators Summit' aimed not at game designers and publishers, but at online influencers - people who have YouTube channels talking about D&D. So yes, they are trying to bring these people on to become shills for them(if they aren't already). Supposedly Nerd Immersion and Bob the Worldbuilder have accepted the invite for the 'summit', but we won't know for sure until that happens.

Forget about making amends, they'll try to memoryhole this; the best you will get is a dismissive 'yeah, it was a mistake...' followed by changing subject as fast as possible. As for becoming 'woke', they'll be as 'woke' as needed to fulfill their purposes, no more, no less. Right now, being 'woke' is a convenient cudgel to beat the competition(see the abovementioned new TSR, and the suit against them).

They invited 'Three Black Halflings' as well so you know this Summit will be a rigorous open forum of scrutiny.

Especially in regards to accurate depictions of cultural and racial sensitivity and inclusivity.

Meanwhile the competition is laughing it's ass off at them.

Piazo is not the only other company WOTC has to look out for.

Eh, depends on how the movie performs. So far all the reviews and feedback from early screenings are really positive.

Yeah, but so was the Rings of Power. Getting good early reviews is easy when you're paying for them.

I don't mean to keep putting posts in, but these things just randomly occur to me.

The biggest problem with WotC is that it really is too big to fail no matter what they do. It is not possible for anything to threaten their position because when you think tabletop RPGs you think Dungeons and Dragons and WotC owns it. NuTSR was seen as a threat because they had the TSR name and nostalgia, especially in this dystopia we live in now, is pretty powerful- besides, if their games were good, well..."meta-stable."

There is no alternative that can do it. It doesn't matter if someone cooks up a classic RPG like Dungeons and Dragons that is really fantastic, maybe better than the Gygax-Era stuff, UNLESS it too becomes widespread and BIG. Too big to ban at conventions, too big for dealers to ignore, big enough to REALLY threaten WotC's income by diverting the money away from them.

Wonder what WotC's Sixth Edition is going to be like.

All right, I'll ask- what do you mean by "three black halflings?"

This is not a joke- I really don't know and would rather ask about it here.

They're some random diversity DnD podcasters/commentators.

And they're BLACK!!!1

Three Black Halflings said:
Three Black Halflings are a group of nerdy friends with strong opinions and even stronger Charisma scores. Join them in their quest to explore diversity in the incredible worlds of D&D and pop culture while doling out DM tips, thought-provoking conversations, a band of guests, and good times.

I wasn't even being casually racist this time!

In a vacuum maybe; but unfortunately for Wizards and their parent company Hasbro, as well as most of the entertainment industry for that matter, the ideology they're pushing is going to leave their customers with no money to buy their products.

Collapse of everything is the goal. The useful idiots will be disposed of by their elite masters at that point.

Continuation of this: looks like their 'Content Creators Summit' did not go as WotC expected...
