Taking a cue from the (well deserved) success of the Resident Evil remakes perhaps.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which is the one that takes place during the Cold War and is an origin story in case your not sure off the top of your head, is being remade.

The original game came out in 2005.

I'll be honest, I heard the many rumors but I was still kinda surprised I suppose that they're remaking this game and not Metal Gear Solid 1 or 2 (or the 1987 original 😛 ). Then again, the second game especially had a pretty wonky second half that I recall, so remaking that one might be a bit more challenging then say, improving the Island portion of Resident Evil 4 for the remake.

Also no Hideo Kojima involvement AFAIK. But the trailer looks good for basically being a Bond film style teaser.

I will be a patient buyer and see once it comes out. This confirms that indeed Sony pulled a deal with Konami for both SILENT HILL and Kojima's franchise.

Most important is not to buy into the hype.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is coming to the Switch; kinda surprised they didn't include Twin Snakes in there, considering they put in NES Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge in.

It shouldn't surprise you if look at their history. They re-published and then de-listed Silent Hill 2 and 3 and those ports were crappy in some aspects , even Silent Hill 4 got republished and is available on gog.com of all places. Then there are all of the pachinko machines of Metal Gear and Silent Hill.

Twin Snakes wasn't a crappy port however, no matter what Snoys and Metal Gear fanboys say, especially when you compare it to NES Metal Gear, which was a crappy port, and Snakes Revenge, which was just objectively bad. MSX Metal Gear is in the collection as well, so there is no excuse for NES Metal Gear to be in there if Konami is excluding Twin Snakes because the original Metal Gear Solid is included.

Now, if you mean Konami is just being stupid as per usual, then yeah, that makes sense.

Dude I don't know how old are you but I became aware of Metal Gear with Guns of the Patriots and I was still underage at the time. So...I am a noob for that.
I tried to play the earlier iterations on emulators but it was a pain in the butt to run and play them.

Now, if you mean Konami is just being stupid as per usual, then yeah, that makes sense.

I mean if you check companies from Japan such as Capcom and Square Enix, they also behaved similarly stupid to this. The first re-released a bunch of stuff or outright remade them out of the blue with varying quality and Square Enix blamed monetary underperformance on their western developers.

Konami's Metal Gear franchise has apparently sold over 60 million copies across its many releases and has made Konami over a billion dollars.

PC Gamer said:
Since its launch in July of 1987, the Metal Gear series has achieved 60 million total cumulative sales. That's based on numbers collected at the end of June this year. As the Wayback Machine shows, when Konami last counted sales at the end of September 2022, the Metal gear series was up to 59.3 million copies sold. Which means that even though there hasn't been a new game in the series since the unloved Metal Gear: Survive in 2018, it's still managed to rack up 700,000 sales in just nine months.

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is set for a late October release and bundling Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Collection, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Collection, Metal Gear from the original NES, and Hideo Kojima's personal favorite, the sequel to the 1987 NES game, Snake's Revenge

I'll definitely pick up the Master Collection Vol. 1 eventually, even if I don't get to it immediately.

I wanna know what all the fuss is about in regards to the Metal Gear series.

It’s on topic metal gear deals with nukes and railgun and giant robots and helicopters and tanks.
That game wannabe John Carpenter/Clint Eastwood movie also has weirdo nanotech, immortal cloned supersoldiers and other weirdo shit.

Do I need to remind you of the time when Raiden spun two 5 meter tall mechs in the air via cables and his feet?

So, yeah, I am sure somebody droning on and on about modern military tech in the name of clout chasing is relevant.... :ROFLMAO:

immortal clones who are you talking about? Also don’t call it wannabe it is a high class game it’s very good.

As to Raiden the revengence stuff happens later and is full sci fi yes. But the early parts are realistic.

Oh, great, Kojima fanboying incoming.

Yeah, sure, the Shagohod and cloning people in the 1940s were both examples of realism.

40s? Snake and liquid were made in the 70s the first two metal gear games were in the 90s the only sci fi stuff in them was metal gear otherwise nothing really over the top then the first metal gear solid is in 2005 and that’s where some stuff like clones and nanotechnology comes up. Oh and psychics.

Unlike Metal Gear, the Shagohod was not a bipedal tank; while it could "walk" in a limited fashion on the tips of the runners carrying the two augers, it mainly drove with them flat

So, tank with some limited waker capabilities
that could shoot ICBMs and launch itself in the air with rocket boosters to give said ICBMs starting velocity.
In the 1960s.

Yeah, sure, very realistic.

Chronologically it is the first one.

Where Snake gets shot into the USSR via drone that gets launched from an SR-71.

Also, a plea of innocence is guilty of wasting my time.
Maybe you should not be debating something when you haven't bothered fk look up the canon.

It’s not a plea of innocence you jerk. It’s a warning to not spoil. Also yes giant robot but no cloning.
