He passed away literally days after his documentary All Madden was released by Fox on December 25th.

John Madden started off as a Coach back in the sixties but was best known for being a legendary NFL Commentator from 1979 to 2008 when he finally retired. He was also surprisingly instrumental in the development of the first Madden football game back in 1998 where he famously made an outburst upon seeing an early version of the game and stating "That's Not Football," due to the deviances from actual football an early version of the game made. Ever since then, Madden has contributed his voice and creatively to the sports franchise even well after his retirement.

John Madden was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

"He was football."

I may not be a big fan of Football but even I understand that his passing ends an era. When I was a kid I used to play the games and heard his voice. To think he is gone is a true loss for the sport he loved so much.

Madden should've won more Super Bowls with the Raiders.
