Nidoking forever

Massive move pool list
Massive HM/TM learn list
Immune to poison and lightning based paralysis
Obtainable in the original games right after the first town, before the first dungeon even (Viridian forest)
Evolves from Nidoran into Nidorino at 16 and can immediately be evolved into a Nidoking ( a 3rd stage mon at level 16)with a moonstone from mount moon(Middle of the second dungeon). At level 23 can learn the powerful thrash ability.
Looks like the cool Anime/Werewolf version of Barney the Dinosaur
Since hes not actually quadruple weak to anything and most grass types are also poison(weak to ground) he can actually clear all gyms except the psychic gym quite easily.

Stats do fall a just bit below that of your starter pokemon but not unuseably so
Poison typing, for many gens prior to fairies existing poison was largely a liability due to giving weakness to ever present psychic and ground moves.

Honestly, playing as a child, getting this guy by mostly chance was like finding an "infinity-1" sword at the start of the game. For me this was back before internet was easily available so it was pretty special to find this guy on my own.
