Giving Radio To The Romans; Maybe Literally

Writers Blocked Douchebag

I honestly like series wherein a primitive or preindustrial society is given advanced knowledge and/or technology

Know any aside from the examples from this tvtropes page?

Guns of the South by Harry Turtledove is one of the most popular entries. A group of mysterious individuals in the Winter of 1863/64 pay a visit to Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia army camp in the midst of the American Civil War and offer to sell him a rather large inventory of their new smokeless repeater rifle, the AK-47.

It's quite the fantastic story inline with your premise. It even got praise from rather prominent Civil War historians.

I am not sure how that series was even allowed to be published

Then again he’s in BAEN Books, weird how Eric Flint is there

It was released in 1993. People weren't stupid enough to think that a nuanced view of history is violence like they do today.

And c'mon... the Baen stuff? It's a publisher and Harry Turtledove is pretty damn mainstream as scifi authors go. Eric Flint meanwhile, despite being very left wing, has always been a passionate advocate of free speech at the very least and is a friend of Brad Torgersen.

Well, good for him, shows he’s got an open mind and can see that people aren’t demons for being on the opposing side

That said, currently reading David Drake’s Belisarius Saga V1(apparently both collaborated to make it)

Not much new tech yet, though first thing’s first, Belisarius realised that cavalry should wear stirrups for proper maneuvering

There are two other novels I haven't read but were recommended to me...

Times Eye by Arthur C. Clarke and the Lord Conrads Crusade series by some... Polish guy named Conrad who apparently did a giant SI fic. Both deal with Mongol antagonists coincidentally enough.

Ah, I see you are a man of taste and culture as well.

Kinda horrible but I wish the Belisarius Saga got a Live Action Adaptation, horrible because these days I very much dislike live action

Maybe unlikely, I think the author’s conservative or there’s a stigma to be made from working with BAEN Books

Maybe a cartoon or even an anime instead

Still at volume 2, “Fuck Malwa”
