After very... mixed reception of some of the latest Gears of War releases, Gears: Tactics will be released tomorrow on Steam and other platforms. Like X-Com, this game will be a turn based, squad level tactical or strategy game and it takes place twelve years before the original Gears of War game that started this franchise. The plot will revolve around the original Hammer of Dawn strikes that were used to keep the Locust Horde at bay in the wake of Emergence Day.
The trailer is very colorful and they seem to of geared this game to their core fanbase. Most of the early reviews seem to state that while it's not a revolutionary game, the gameplay is apparently solid and the atmosphere is the bloody and gory musclebound buffet of masculinity that the original Gears of War games had.
