The crafting mechanic is awesome, it factually gives you more options than either game. How is it garbage when it literally expands upon the previous lol?

Are you implying New Vegas had better crafting?
New vegas had better crafting, yeah. Lmao.

Did you play Cyberpunk at launch?

And they couldn't build a single fucking house, not one, something which A SINGLE PERSON with stone tools and a pair of shorts can do in the jungle with no help BUT THEMSELVES.
I saw an excellent video about that.
which was about how they have no scale of time.

first... the survivors by definition were survivor type people.
so you survived in da woods for a year. hunting, cleaning your food, rationing your rad-x, cleaning your water, building shelter, etc.
and then... you decided fuck it I am gonna live in a broken down old home.
and so did every one of your descendants forever.
also for some reason the homes didn't rot away.

They literally build their settlements out of metal

And considering the significantly more hostile environment you're not exactly going to have an easy time to gather wood cement and rebar then take your time to build a nice building.

Seriously this is the stupidest shit to complain about and probably a lack of paying attention to the environmental story telling of the game.

Jeez why aren't there multi story wooden houses?

Huh maybe it's because the environment is different maybe?

The stupidest part is that their houses are not closed.
there are huge gaping holes that critters can just crawl through. i am surprised they don't all just die to a radroach eating their face in their sleep.
or death by exposure during the winter
Proof of gaping holes that Rad Roaches can fit in?
Go ahead and post it.

If that is the best you can build after 200+ years then I wonder how you are even still alive or capable of breathing.
It's the best they can do with thousands of Super mutants and Ghouls roaming around while your entire water supply is irradiated.

The West Coast literally had every good possible thing happen for them, learn some fucking context before complaining.

It's not oh they sat around for 200 years, it's we've been surviving for 200 years with next to no fresh water while dealing with a roaming band of Super mutants that keep increasing in numbers because we had no messiah to bail us out.

Reverse the situations and the West Coast would have been equally fucked, West Coast is "every best case scenario happened" and East Coast is "God didn't send us a Chosen one to kill the mutants or reduce nuclear Fallout from hitting us"

There's actually a dialogue choice in Fallout 2 IIRC where some random settler is dunking on you for being a tribal and you can deliver a smartass reply along the lines of "Oh yes, I'll leave you to your superior life living in the ruins of rotted out two hundred year old buildings. Bye."

Or something like that. I'd have to replay the game to figure it out lol.

I am fully aware of the context and if the environment is that hostile then humans historically do this thing called migrating for better conditions.

And that's been done in the East Coast, what you see in Fallout 3 are the people who haven't moved.

Lucky enough to survive in a settlement but not lucky enough to be able to risk traveling outside of the Wasteland even if they could make it past the slavers, mutants and monsters.

They didn't have the benefit of the Vaults or Brotherhood helping them like the West Coast did either.

It's not actually it's a more realistic world environment after getting nuked and no messiah figure appeared to unite the people.

the NCR bums on the other hand get a literal Chosen one to solve all their problems and conveniently ignore their own lore about the severity of the radiation and also somehow get a population of 700k 🤷

Like what the fuck do you expect people to build houses from in the Capital, trees like this?
Exiting_Vault_101.png

Is your issue is that the East Coast which would have gotten nuked harder didn't have enough fucking trees? It's shitty world building because there isn't enough trees in the setting? When Bethesda is only realistically applying the lore from the previous installments which indicated FO Bomb's were extremely dirty
Snip-it_17135581036812.jpg

So which is it? What is the EXACT problem? Because so far it's just a lot of wah wah bitching devoid of substance.

No wooden houses because no trees
No trees because they got nuked
No trees regrew back in any substantial numbers because of the radiation PER THE PREVIOUS LORE
Substantial Radiation = Less Food = Less Water = More People Dying = Malnutrition = Having Less Kids

Mutants, Raiders, Slavers, Monstrosities add an extra level of difficulty and they didn't have Fallout Jesus in the East Coast 🤷

Why isn't it shitty writing when Fallout 2 pulls out a stereotypical Chosen one to solve problems but it's shitty writing for Bethesda to write a story where the East Coast chosen one arrived late?

What's your cope for Boston? That city didn't even take a direct hit and people are still living in hovels and for some reason wooden houses are still standing 200+ years later.

Roslyn Chambers: "In Diamond City, a lifetime ago, my parents and eight others were massacred by someone. At first we thought the maniac was human. But that was the day we learned of the Institute's latest creations. The synths. As long as the Institute walks invisibly amongst us, they strike without warning and control us from the shadows."
Nick Valentine: "The Commonwealth Provisional Government. Years back a group of settlements tried to get together and form a coalition. Every settlement with even a hint of clout sent representatives to try and hash out an agreement. Only the Institute sent a representative of their own, a Synth. The man killed every rep at the talks. The Commonwealth Provisional Government was over before it even got off the ground. I took up in town not long after. I was damn lucky they didn't just tell me to scram right then and there."

Blame the Institute sabotage 🤷

Like the lore is there but you're too blinded by Bethesda hate to realize there's reasons for all your complaints mentioned, also Boston did get hit btw idk why you're ignoring the glowing sea.

Literally everywhere... but fine I will post an example.
Take a look at, for example, greentop nursery.

a settlement where a bunch of people live in one house. and work in one greenhouse.
the greenhouse has broken windows.
the house has holes in the roof and holes in the walls. the video goes on about how he restored the house. repairing the walls and the roof.

even still, even after the repair there is a big hole in the wall at 3:29 which he could not fix.
and also i am pretty sure the windows are all broken and are basically holes in the wall a radroach can come through and eat you in your sleep

5:37 shows a missing window on the other side of the house. in fact he ran electric cables through the open window frame. and explicitly noted as such

I mean, we have rivet city in DC, we have them who did good surviving in a Aircraft carrier for what...a good while?
Then you have Boston with Diamond city, Bunker Hill, various people living in houses all around, surviving. Be it by shooting at the things that cause harm or what ever it be.

It's a bit disingenuous to pick a "settlement" when it's really just a camp with two people, said "settlement" actually can't survive with out assistance from the Minute Men.

I can find similar trash examples in New Vegas 🤷

I was expecting you to be honest and point out some gaps in Megaton but apparently you're trying to be cheeky 😒
