I'm just creating this thread and laying the ground rules at the moment. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, this thread is necessary, but I don't want it to quickly turn into a megathread. I'm an engineer, but I have certain job tasks related to polar research and snow forecasting and I will stick to subjects I can talk about with any kind of competence. I'm sure this will quickly attract @LordSunhawk so I will just let him know about this to begin with. It will take time between updates; I don't want to do a poor job considering how important this is. But my intention is to try and drill into the details of the science and provide as much objective hard data as possible for people to see. This may mean a lot of linking, a lot of graphs, a lot of data-sets you would have to put effort into viewing yourself even if I supply them, because webfora are not great places for access to bulk data. I would appreciate being polite: I do not rely on any grant money for my salary and in fact I am more likely to continue to have steady employment if it doesn't exist.
