We've all wanted to make our own Death Squadron I'm sure.

It'll be a simple point based system.

2000 points to work with:

(Free) 1 - Dreadnought/SuperWarship as the Flagship

100 - Battlecruiser/Battlecarrier/Battleship: Imperial Star Destroyer/Mon Calamari Star Cruiser/Victory/Librehulk Battleship

40 - Frigate/Cruiser: Nebulon-B/Assault Frigate/Venator

10 - Escort: CR90 Corvette/Sphyrna-class Corvette

5 - Gunships: Droid Heavy Missile Platform/Ranger-class Gunship/DP-20 Gunship/Various Bounty Hunter/Smuggler ships

1 - Hyperspace Capable Fighters: (in addition to normal capital ship complements)

EDIT:

> Must have capital ships represented in every class (except gunship or starfighter)
> Each class of ship must have a minimum of two designs within

So I think a minimum of three designs should be submitted for each category or like have every capital ship be a different class, otherwise you could spam Resurgents and TIE Defenders, and that’s not really fun for anyone. So im going to try to adhere to this a bit.

Dreadnought: 1x Eclipse Class
-Basically serves as a giant "fuck you" to anyone smaller than it and most things bigger than it

Battleships:
2x Resurgent Class
1x Tector Class
2x Nebula Class
Total Points: 500

Cruisers/Frigates:
5x Venator Class
3x Dreadnought Class
2x Interdictor class
2X Ardent Class
Total Points: 480

Escorts/Corvettes:
20x CR90s
20x Raider II Class
Total Points: 400

Gunships: For purposes of this fleet, what does a gunship offer that is worth 5 X-wings or 5 TIE Defenders. Yes a gunship would be great for medium duration solo Ops but in a strike fleet enviroment where Corvettes and heavier classes are readily available, I dont see a need for them.

Fighters:
70x TIE Defenders
200x RZ-2 A-Wings
200x T-70 X wings.
150x SF-01 B-Wings
50x ARC-170s
50x BTL-S8 K-wings.
Total points: 720

That's a good suggestion, having every class represented (though I saw the gunships didn't make it, at least you provided reasoning for it) so yeah, I'll incorporate it as a basic rule.

But yeah... there is a problem in Star Wars with a lot of the 'elite hybrid' fighters like K-Wings and TIE Defenders which are basically good at everything. Hopefully people can restrain themselves. I was pondering even adding fighters in the first place and maybe just having it be whatever the normal ship complement is but decided against it since it's basically a creativity experiment/concept we're meant to have fun with. :p

Love the fleet!

There's also the problem that how valuable big capital ships are vis-a-vis both each other and smaller ships is wildly variable in both fluff and any published version of game stats, let alone any realistic-analytical take on Star Wars. And how durable medium-sized ships are is even more variable; the souped up civilian Millenium Falcon demonstrated herself to be capable of resisting multiple hits from Star Destroyer light/medium turbolaser shots and pretty much no-selling even massive swarms of TIEs at Endor, while the not all that much smaller and supposedly military design Starfortress bombers were torn apart in seconds by mere starfighter-grade weapons fire.

Dreadnought:
Viscount-class Star Defender

100 - Battlesip:
1 - Lucrehulk-class Battleship
2 - Allegiance-class Battlecruiser
4 - Nebula-class Star Destroyer
Total Points: 700

40 - Frigate/Cruiser:
2 - Enforcer-class Picket Cruisers
6 - Venator-class Star Destroyer
6 - Carrack-class Light Cruiser
6 - Lancer-class Frigate
Total Points: 800

10 - Escort:
10 - CR-90 Corellian Corvette
12 - Raider-class Corvette
3 - CC-7700 Interdictor Frigate
Total Points: 250

5 - Gunships:
20 - Ranger-class Gunship
15 - DP20 Corellian Gunship
15 - D-5 Mantis Patrol Craft
Total Points: 50

1 - Mehhhh

I mean Starfighters are King's in Star Wars... but I'm hoping with the generic complements on board the capital ships and the multiple points of interdiction we can still have a fun time. The Viscount is a dreadnought with all of the advanced shielding, ion cannons and technology and support missions that speaks well of its Mon Calamari design and would make a nice flagship even though it doesn't have the cool game winning superlaser.

I prefer dedicated ships as opposed to do everything ones but with that said the Nebula-Star Destroyers are kind of highly survivable pocket Star Destroyers and have equivalent firepower in a smaller package so I chose those. I also went with two Allegiance-class Battlecruisers which are heavily armed and dedicated anti-capital ship warships and also have a purpose in escorted even larger and more formidable vessels so the capital ship task force can possess extremely powerful anti-capital capabilities. The Allegiance doesn't even have hangar bays due to its dedication to slugging it out with enemy forces.

I love carriers and while I did enjoy the Lucrehulk-design, only chose one of those while I decided to go with the Venator since it fits the whole dagger aesthetic that I have going on. To complement those powerful carriers I went with a dedicated anti-capital ship and one that's highly survivable in the Carrack-class and the deadly and even feared by Wedge Antilles himself, the Lancer frigate. The latter will definitely be needed for anti-snubfighter protection and can work in conjunction with the capital ships as escorts. The Enforcer-class also project gravity wells and have quite the firepower as well for more interdiction traps. I want escape to be impossible.

For escorts, I have three Interdictor frigates so I can employ all sorts of creative interdiction traps if I can ever get that working. The CR90 is a super flexible and reliable design, heavily armed for its size while the Raider-class is deadly against both fighters and capships but dedicated more towards the former. It can also unleash barrages of deadly concussion missiles.

For gunships, the Ranger-class will help with the anti-starfighter operations and be even more mobile and deadly then the Lancer-classes. The DP20's are meant to be more versatile while the D-5 Mantis Patrol Craft are kind of meant as a lovely surprise to drop upon the enemy with their unique design and fold out weapons.

Theming around an Imperial fleet, and therefore top-heavy and intimidating, that may or may-not belong to Ysanna Isard (spoiler: it does).

Dreadnought: Executor-class Star Dreadnought ('Super Star Destroyer') Lusankya

1400 points Battleships:
-
6 Imperial-II class SD
-2 Victory class SD
-3 Allegiance class SD
-3 Tector class SD

280 points Frigate/Cruisers
-1 Interdictor class SD
-3 Carrack class light cruisers
-2 Lancer class frigates
-1 Nebulon-B class (It's an IMPERIAL ship, dammit! :p )

200 point Escorts
-15 Raider class Corvettes
-5 Ton-Falk class Escort Carriers

90 points Gunships
-4 DP20 Correllian Gunships
-14 Nemesis class gunships

20 points Fighters
-30 TIE Defenders
-10 TIE Reaper
-15 TIE Scout

Short on interdiction and dedicated fighter defense, probably (though the prevalence of mook TIEs in the Ton-Falks in combo with judicious use of the Defenders and the Raiders might be able to at least slow/threaten any fighter attacks), but in exchange it will most assuredly stomp the floor with any capital ships it meets and there should be enough big ol' turbolaser-triangles to array around that one lone bulgey hyperspace-a-no-go triangle to keep pesky things like the enemy running away from the turbolaser-triangles from happening. Definitely short on the mid-size ship dynamic as well, but...turbolaser-triangles! They're shiny and triangular!

With this setup there is some ground-attack options as well. Good ol' Victory triangles can drop into atmosphere, TIEs can support and land, depending, and the gunships can provide some more specific airborner support.

Because what Imperial fleet would be complete without the ability to be vicious, gigantic assholes to planetary populations resisting the smothering oppression of space-fascism, as well as a massive exploitable weakness in the top-heavy philosophy that can be used by the good guys to bring it down?

Left three hundred points on the table initially because I can't do math... solved it rather easily by adding a Lucrehulk as a carrier and a pair of picket ships and another Carrack and Lancer. Love those support ships.

Gotta say... those triangles of CZena are pretty appealing. Maybe I'll make a sexy Imperial Invasion fleet next time. Love the addition of the mandatory Nebulon-B for the fleet as well... every fleet needs a default Medical Frigate apparently nowadays. Plus I admire using over two thirds of the points for sexy dagger shaped battleship equivalents.
