Completionist-Bingeing; Ruins The Fun?

This is something I think I've gotten from trying to be up to date with a number of series ranging from Tolkien's Legendarium, Robert E. Howard's works, Edgar Rice Burroughs' works, Goblin Slayer, Grimnoir, Heavy Object, Dresden Files, Kane, Troy Rising, Prince Roger/Empire of Man, A Song of Ice & Fire, Rosario+Vampire, Berserk, Danger Girls and more

I try to read everything in chronological order and everything set in said universe

Thing is, most of the time this means I'm essentially trying to read a YUGE stack of papers enough to stop the door with its THICC-ness

I feel like I'm even getting confused with the action scenes too and forgetting a number of characters

Like I'm reading less because it's fun and more because I have a sort of OCD, I either stop reading it for months on end or force myself to try going through with every single page on my Kindle

I think I lost my ability to get consumed with a book and finish it in maybe 2-4 hours back when I was younger....then again Young Adult books that I read may not have been that long and reading with a physical book instead of a kindle or computer screen might give slight psychological nudges

Does anybody else get this feeling? I've seen guys talking about themselves rereading/bingeing every single volume of Dresden Files on reddit whilst awaiting Peace Talks

The feelings of mental exhaustion come and go, but I think you'll find that like with any "exercise" you will get more out of it the longer you commit to it over the years.
