College Football updates:

* #12 Oregon upset #3 OH St 35-28 in Columbus earlier this afternoon.

*#1 Alabama blew out Mercer 48-14, but it felt underwhelming in my personal opinion because the defense commited stupid penalties.

*#2 Georgia blew out UAB 56-0.

*#5 Texas A&M survives scare from Colorado 10-7 in Denver, CO.

*#10 Iowa putting overrated #9 IA St in their place & last I checked: Iowa was blowing them out 27-10.

*#7 Cincinnati blew out Murray St 42-7.

There is history behind that game.

Washington University in Saint Louis's home stadium (Francis Olympic Field) was the main venue for the 1904 Olympics. The University of Chicago was a founding member of the Big 10 way back in 1896.

I went to WashU (WUSTL in sports reports), she went to UChicago.

(Sorry for the double post. Thought some clarification/elaboration was necessary.)

Assuming you've heard about Helton getting fired ?

He was fired after losing to Stanford. That's worse than getting fired after losing to Notre Dame* for a USC or Stanford coach because both have Notre Dame as a rival in addition to each other.

* My parents' alumnus
Despite the fact Helton had won the Pac-12 Championship in 2017 & taking the Trojans to back-to-back New Years Six Bowls in 2016 (winning the 2016 Rose Bowl against Penn St) & 2017 (losing the Cotton Bowl to OH St). I guess that wasn't good enough to save his job...

Something tells me Fickel is not going to stick around in Cincinnati & neither will IA St Hawkeyes Football Coach Matt Campbell.
The players are the ones who usually lose.

Aside: know I guy who played DI basketball. When his first coach jumped to greener pastures the new coach wanted to drop his scholarship to get another kid fresh out of HS he wanted instead. School said NOPE! to that idea*. Had it been a powerhouse basketball school the coach probably would have gotten away with it.

* Mechanical Engineering Department wasn't going to lose a senior with good grades.

Note: I'm not naming the school or the coaches because that would be enough to get the guy's phone number and TS has a No Doxxing rule.
