One thing that as far as they can tell is that they're like Wargs, except they could "Warg" themselves and release the beast within

They don't discover the strange ability of this armour until real combat

Robb would be still murdered in Red Wedding, and his armour would come to Freys. But Jon would keep his, win battle by himself and maybe save Rickon.

He makes the mistake of taking it off

Though, if he doesn’t.....well hopefully House Frey’s remaining heir is a decent sort at the very least and Roose is dead

Uh, no. When word reaches King's Landing that Robb is tearing apart armies almost single-handed, the war won't get to the point of the Red Wedding.

Robb will be making enough progress that Tywin won't have the time to get the Tyrells to bail out KL. Stannis takes the city, then too many variables to predict IMO.

It will be considered rumors at first until they get a better picture

Also, I think he needs some real good medicine or healing in-between uses, something Guts gets by with guys like Puck and Gaiseric probably did with Elf Island

I'm not sure the Red Wedding would even happen if Robb had previously shown himself to be an invincible demon warrior capable of killing whole armies by himself. I think the first time he smashed through an enemy formation like a cannonball people would be less "plotting his demise for their gain" and more "lining up to suck his dick". Who would betray him to someone less powerful, who could only promise less by their favor both because they are less powerful and because they are less generous? Who could "beat Robb's Bid" so to speak, when he'd be poised to conquer the continent?

Now, he'd have weaknesses, but they wouldn't know that.

Right but Frey and Roose would know first hand, and they'd be terrified.

While the armor would be harmful to him long term, remember also that it was hurting Guts so much because he was in fact taking damage. There are very few things in westeros, if any at all, that hit hard enough to damage someone wearing the Berserker armor.

Possibly more funnily, Roose thinks Robb’s a literal monster....and he can both fear and respect that and also wishes he could do that too

Now that I think about it, you’d think that the Planetos would have the concoctions or fungi that Viking Berserkers may have used to go Berserk in battle

From my understanding that practice was somewhat obscure in real life, with "Berserker" more or less just meaning "Enforcer with a special coat" most of the time, and the guys going nuts or getting high and then going nuts were more the exception than the norm. I'd be surprised if no one was getting high and running into battle in Planetos though.

It doesnt help that everyone in the GOT show fights like a steryotypical high-off-his-tits berserker.

I think Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane's the closest thing to a "Berserker" in the setting

Too bad for the majority that it doesn't seem to give them enough adrenaline to keep on fighting even with arrows embedded in their skin or a few stab wounds and the like
